Hey, Puys,

I am srsly very passionate for CAT. I am scoring around 95 %ile in my mock cats this time around. This is also my first time.
I have
87 % in 10th,
73 % in 12th,
and then i enrolled into Law 5 yrs course.
Being a non-med student thru out i found it really hard to cope up with all the arts nd humanities kind of studies. and managed a very disgusting nd embarrasing 59 % in my first three yrs tht is BA. nw coz i have got my BA
i wanna get outta this LLB course nd go for MBA.

I juzz wanna know, lets suppose i get a %ile thts above 99 in CAT ( may b i m being far too optimistic, bt whts harm in supposing)
given my bad acad record in graduation, cn i hope to get into ne of the IIMs or MDI?

Will they be generous to law graduate as it is a low scoring subject(although rite now i dnt have a LLB degree, juzz BA(hons) in Law) . the university toppper manages 70 barely. and i have been like representing my college in all major law competitions,(moot courts nd all).


I actually wanna know tht can good CAT percentile overcome the acads, i mean below 60% acads bt juzz in graduation(in 10th nd 12th i managed fairly good). and can BA degree holder can ever find a place into any IIM ??

plz give a detailed reply, to let me know if i am chasing fool's gold.
and if i can hope to get into a gud insti, wht all things shud i do rite to do so.

Well Madrock,

Academics is just a part of the selection & I depends on the individual IIMs. For Example IIMB/S gives huge weightage to acads. IIMC doesnt bothers about your pasr acads. Their a friend of mine in IIMA a with 6.x CGPA from IIT. So it depends.

Fyi. I got a GD-PI call from IIMA (58.4% in BE) in CAT 2006
