Hi Aabha
Sorry for a delayed response!
GMAt is the other option. You could opt for it and aim for a score of 650 plus. For CAT, you need to aim at overall of 90 percentile and make sure that scores in each section are in the range of 60 to 70 percentile or above.
if you must work for a year, then media houses, advertising or sales and marketing jobs are fine.
Good luck

Can you please clarify, as to if we seriously do get such profiles in MICA as I havent heard such profiles being offered in any other school focussing on marketing.
Thanks a lot.

Hi Naval
Corp Com is a subst of Marketing and very much a key part of Marketing communication. So you may not find too many 'MBA' in Corp com, but MICANs, certainly there. You also must know that corp com is very essential for brand building and hence does require a lot of strategic thinking at corporate level. Also, at the time of crisis, corpcom function becomes very critical and hence people with right knowledge and skills become very valuable. That's why MICAns fit in well in these jobs. Quite a few of my ex-students are in CorpCom functions in companies like Castrol, P&G etc.

Does this mean that we will be given calls for MICAT based on the GMAT scores we have mentioned in the form or there is something else that needs to be done?

Hi Vishwa,
You can send copy of your score card to MICA and we will verify it with the original at the time of MICAT.

Hi,
Right place for the question, certainly.
A group exercise will essentially have a group, of 8 to 10 aspirants. The topic could be something like 'which do you think will be the preferred mode of transport for Indians in 2020'. You will be given 7 to 8 options and you need to rank them and then start the discussion with others as to why do you think what you think. In the process, try and convince others and understand their Point of View. the groups should then come to a consensus as to what are the three options they think will work in 2020.
Clear hai??

i would be grateful if you you help me with this query. Are the graduation marks considered to be a principle parameter for judging the potential of a candidate and may play a decisive role in selection?
i dont have much extra curricular certificates either but i have enrolled for diploma in creative writing in english from IGNOU .would that add to my candidature?

Hi Zubin
CAT score is what we look at first to shortlist you. It is only at the PI stage that we actually ask you about your graduation grades and related questions. WE do understand that not everyone who applies to MICA and reaches GE/PI is a topper. But we like to find out what went wrong and why for low grades. There may be some reasons...in some cases, sadly, that's an attitude. WE like to check that. Afterall, in an institute we want people to come and study...not waste their parents' hard earned money in having a good time at a place where the focus is education.

|
Hi Megha
PGCPAM is an online course meant for working professionals, hence really not advisable for you. Also, since it is a knowledge enhancement course for people already in the industry, it does not provide placements. Ideally, you should do some reading or do a small project/internship with some ad agency if you must do some preparations.

Hi Parashar
MICAT essentially aims at checking your writing skills and lateral thinking skills. So it will be good to do some writing practice, specially focusing on writing precisely and to the point. Also, think of how many possible solutions can a problem/situation have and how best you can express it. For example, there was a question on 'how would you communicate the need for hygiene to slum children in the age group of 6 to 10'. Think of how many ways you can do it and what would be most effective...

- MICA website says one should need atleast 3 years of work-ex for applying. Should this work-ex be in a similar field like Marketing or Communications? Since I'm from IT background, will it be a disadvantage for me?

Hi Janani
It is very much possible to submit your application, stating that you should be taking GMAT and submit scores later. However, the GMAT scores should be available to MICA atleast a week before MICAT date.
