This thread is started by me, so that all the puys who will be appearing for the CAT 09 can assemble and introduce themselves.

With intense discussions on CAT 08 taking place in the Forum in ka zillion threads, I was surprised to find there;s no one talking bout the CAT 2009!!

Its a good time to start preparation right now, so that we are bang on target in 2009!!
Besides, the CAT goes online and nobody knows for sure, what can be in store for us!!

We can even start new test series for CAT 2009 people, prepare together in a more planned way, create schedules/milestones till CAT 09, etc.

So let's start with the introductions.:2gunfire:

For my personal details,
I am Saurabh Goenka, 19 from Kolkata. A student of St. Xavier's College (BCom). Am pursuing my CA alongside BCom. Have joined Erudite. Love PG.
To crack the CAT 2009 is more of a passion than anything else for me.
I am looking for support of a few guys from PG so that something exclusive can be started for CAT 09 from right now!!:bigear:

P.S. Though this thread is primarily for CAT 09 aspirants, the old puys are always welcome with their suggestions and help!!

Hi,

Federer i.e. Abhishek here and still in shock coz abhi abhi pata chala hai ki CAT is DEFINITELY online from 2009

P.S. My only apprehension is, isn't it too early? I mean, for one there will be more people post CAT 08 and what happens is the thread will fizz out as there are not too many preparing exclusively for 09. Because, we have to accept the fact that although Unfortunate but those who do not get what they desire in CAT 08 will also be going for CAT 09 and hence I think we should discuss first if we are not too early ??? Hope you understand Saurabh .

CAT will be (hopefully) a lot different for you guys than what it was for us. The fact that it will(?) be online is known to all. Today's newspaper carried an article that IIMs would outsource CAT to some private players. Globally reputed testing agencies like Pearson VUE are in the fray. So at least the testing standards should go high.

this is pallavi from Hyd.i m persuing my graduation in comp sc(bsc).i m aiming for CAT_09.But,i m very tensed abt that.Donno how to start the preperation..I wanna keep in touch wid someone wid someone whoz aiming for CAT.As I dont have anyone to suggest me regarding that.
Even i too agree wid ur opinion that prepn shud b started for CAT_09 from now itself.Anyways let us giv our best.Gud Luk for u too.

I have gone through all that thinking before starting this thread.
Though, much of what you said has obvious truth reflected in it, I still think that its not that early now. I have started hardcore prep. and for one who has studied the pattern of CAT examinations(and the number of bouncers thrown at the students per test) and is really serious about making it, it should not be early.

I know that the momentum will come slowly, but it will come for sure.
You are very right in saying that PG will be buzzing with CAT 08 stuff. That is why we should have at least a thread of our own where we can discuss all the matter!!

So it is early in a way, but is not in another!!

Let's give this a try..


I mean at least through your reply I know I have someone with me for CAT 09!!

Following are my suggestions for you:

Well, I would suggest that you do a lot of surfing on PG. You must subscribe to QQAD, which is an amazing way to learn quant concepts daily in a very competitive environment. Remember, we are all here for a common purpose, and what cannot be achieved by individuals, can always be achieved by groups..

Start reading a lot. Reading helps you in numerous ways. Firstly, it enriches your vocabulary, while teaching you the right usage of words. Secondly it polishes up your grammar. Thirdly, it improves your Reading Comprehension levels. Fourthly it improves your reading speed. Finally it gives you knowledge on a wide range of topics. Make sure to read on a variety of topics like psychology, philosophy, fiction, documentaries, etc.

Join a training institute.. It always helps..

Prepare a balanced Schedule for your studies. Take one topic at a time and master it before moving on to the next.

Never become complacent and start taking things easily..Remember perseverance is the key to success..[/list]

The fact that IIMs have invited quotations has been out long time ago.
No point panicking over something inevitable..

The more important discussion would be, what's gonna happen when it goes online? Which testing model will it adapt??

This is Aayush from New Delhi, doing (rather trying to do ..!! ) Engineering , 3rd year ,Computer Science..

Just started off with the preparation .. so just seeing how i can manage my college and CAT studies.. which surely is a tough task ...:2gunfire:
Its really nice to see a dedicated thread for CAT 2009 aspirants..as maximum of the topics here on PG right now are for CAT 08.

The aim of this thread should not be just introductions, rather we can know each other well , discuss individual problems and in turn help each others.

CAT 09 going online .. Lets see what happens.. but even if it does , i feel it will make less of a difference as CAT or any other exam as a matter of fact is a 'Competitive' exam.. If there is a new format for us.. then it is new for others also..
I hope IIMs release some thing related to the testing model asap... !
