In the NITIE online appln form there is a section called extra curricular details.
in this we have 2 sections one for extracurricular activities and other for Enter the Awards/Achievements you have won.i have won some awards in cricket and mostly in sports when i was in college..will that fall under the second one(awards) ?what do u exactly mean by extra curricular activities?something like being a NSS member?pls elaborate. Thanks!

Hi Seniors,
Thanks for the gr8 job you guys are doing
Well I wished to know if the application process followed this year is the same as last year. I mean, I felt that NITIE gives calls purely on basis of CAT. So I wasn't expecting the form to ask for a Candidate's complete profile. (Though I am glad it does )
I am not asking if the calls will be 'CAT + Profile', just curious to know if the process/form is the same as Last Year
Thanks

I know I might not be the correct person to answer this query, but even then...
I think Extra curricular itself defines...something out of the curriculum...which is just studies in our case..so, being a NSS member is Extra curricular..
For an activity you don't win something. You might get a certificate of appreciation, but not of winning or losing.
But games, they should be under awards and achievements as we win..we lose and we get certificates and all that of achievement.
Seniors, point out if I am wrong.

Hi,
Can any1 tell me the complete course fees for PGDITM for sponsored candidates??
And 1 wierd question, is it possible for anyone to try and apply for both possibilities i.e. sponsored and non-sponsored???
I am asking coz I wud prefer being non-sponsored, but then my chances of admission become a bit bleak.
Can some PGDITM sponsored candidate help/guide me here???
Thanks

the exact weightage of CAT score for GD/PI calls is not know but it plays a major role at the GD/PI call stage...but after that all the details that you fill in the online application will matter a lot...
as for the second query you can apply only to one of the sponsored or non-sponsored categories...as for the fees for the PGDITM sponsored candidates is the same as the non sponsored but you'll have to pay both the years fees in advance...last year it worked out to Rs 2,48,500...

Hello gravz84;
Answers to your queries:
1. AFAIK, First Division and First Class essentially means the same. Now, what this entails exactly depends on which university u belong to. If you belong to ABC university and your university gives 60% as First Class then a person with marks less than 60% from ABC university will not be entertained. If you belong to XYZ university and your university gives 75% as First division then a person with 70% from XYZ university will not be entertained.
2. I don't think one needs to take more than 2-3 days to fill up the form. The online application has opened today i.e. October 6th, and closes on November 12th. So, in effect, you have 38 days in hand to fill up the form. which I guess is long enough period.
Last year, the last date was post CAT and this had resulted in too many applications. This was reflected in the high cut-off (98.2 pc, even certain IIMs had lower cut-offs) inspite of the fact that NITIE takes only Engineers and that too only First Class. But at the same time there were not too many quality applications. Just to reduce the count and ensure that only serious candidates apply, this move has been taken this year.
NITIE has never been publicity hungry and has never tried to increase the number of application just by shifting the dates. As a member of Admission Committee, I can tell you that the last date will not be postponed by even a single day.
Cheers,
|
Thanks for clarifying. I asked about postponement because XIMB already postponed theirs to a later date.
So it should say on your degree certificate that you got first class from the university, is that it?
Sorry, I don't know what the degree cert is going to look like and whether they mention the class or percentage..

your degree certificate mostly will specify what class you have obtained in your BE/Btech...

HI,
Is the registration process something like SP Jain wherein you have to create an acount and can make CHANGES before the last day of submission?
Or is it like once the payment is done then the profile freezes?
To be clear should i make the payment and then sit for registration?
or i just make an account there and pay the fees whenever i can??

about your second query...both the courses are equally good...infact we have three courses here at NITIE....other than the two you have mentioned we also offer PGDITM...all the courses are equally good provided you know where you interest lay pls go through the following link for more details
NITIE website - Academic Program Overview
do not look at the PGDIE program cause that is for people who come via GATE and not CAT...
In brief the three programs
PGDIM - general management course
PGDISEM - management degree with a focus on environment and industrial safety
PGDITM - management degree with a focus on IT
all the three courses have carved a niche for themselves in the market...which means you dont have to worry about the placement aspects for sure you just have to realize what course appeals more to you....
if you have any specific queries about any of the programs pls fell free to revert

Hi chop suey,
I have two queries:
Do the CAT %iles change for the courses or are they the same for all the three - like in MDI they call for the basic Finance around 98, while for HR u mite get a call for 96 too...
Also,
since I am into IT, if i rank PGDITM above PGDISEM as my preference and can ultimately clear both , do u think I would be erring?
PS - I should make my preferences clear over here... I would olways like to go for a more popular/better course first... and if two courses are equally popular/good, then I would like to go with relevance to my current profile...
