What use to be the minimum sectional and OA cutoffs for sc cat.
M getting eu-21, qa-27, di-22 , workex- 16 months(MNC), 12th- 55%, 10-82%, BE-74%
Do i hv any chance to get the call m frm sc cat.

I have one small query.............would be happy if the seniors oblige.........

I have already submitted the NITIE application successfully.................I have the following preference list for the courses:

1: PGDIM
2: PGDITM
3: PGDISM

Now for the query....

If I get a percentile of around 97.5 in CAT OA with all sectional cut offs cleared, then as far as I know, PGDIM will be out of my reach............But I would like to know if I can get calls for PGDITM and PGDISM............The reason I am asking this is are the calls for those two courses taken out from the sample size of those selected for PGDIM???? Or is it that people with just about 97.5 percentile are called for PGDITM along with those called for PGDIM............because it is obvious that a person who is called for PGDIM will definitely make the cut for PGDITM and PGDISM...........Put in other words, if I get a overall cutoff of 97.5 with all cut offs cleared, are the gates of NITIE totally closed for me or is there any hope for PGDITM and PGDISM????????????

the cutoff for reserved category is generally about 10 %tile lower than that of the open category...but it varies depending on the kind of applicants applying every year...

since the methodology for the selection process is not disclosed it is difficult to say how it is actually done...i believe that since the PGDITM and PGDISEM courses are very focused towards their particular sector, weightage is given to people who have given these courses as their first option..so the cutoffs that are given are for the people who have these courses as their first option and one would need to have a impresive CV to get a call when you have these courses as your second/third option...genrelly people get a call for only one of the courses, but there are a handful of people with multiple calls...so in the end it is all a combination of your percentile and your CV reflecting your inclination

i am expecting the following scores for cat-2008..

qa-34
di-16
va-46-61

oa--96-111...(95-97.5%ile)...

can i expect a call...???

i will ahve 35 mnths exp by june09....in a leading IT major..

Hi spiro,

With that kind of score in DI and overall score, and going by the past two years cut-offs, I don't think there's any chance for NITIE. Your overall score is decent enough. So look for the colleges which don't have any sectional cut-offs or have it very low (in the range of 50s).

Would advise you to focus on other exams.

you seem to have done well in all the sections other then the DI one, as has been already pointed out...but i have observed that a lot of people have found the DI section difficult this year...so a drop in the DI scores can be expected across the board...dont lose sleep over your chances for NITIE...as koolbuddy has rightly said that u need to concentrate on the forthcoming exams...

The overall cut off for NITIE last year was @ 98.2%ile for PGDIM, which was more than the cutoffs for IIM I n K...also the number of candidates taking CAT this year has increased n the number of applicants for NITIE has increased by a much larger proportion! looking at these trends, it seems to be tough to get a call from NITIE if your actual percentile is around 95...but there have been a lot of variations in the answer keys given by coaching institutes for VA section in the last couple of years....should wait n see if it would be the same this year....so keep ur fingers crossed and hope for the best....n do concentrate on other entrances coming up! ATB
