Track_MBA,
One of the best role & package offered in IT was to a guy with
6+ years of experience. He was offered a senior management role
in a telecom company.
Overall guys going to IT with similar background got a good jump both in terms of their position and packages.
Hope I have answered your query.
Regards,
GS

Could you please let throw some light into the kind of profiles that a 6-7 yr IT delivery guy with 2-3 yrs Intl exp could expect out of Glakes assuming he wants to continue in IT.
The placement trend shows a bulk of offers from IT firms....was just wondering if you could tell what exact role ppl with 6-7 yrs exp in IT landed up with this year.
Looking fwd to your help on this.

Hi GS,
Many thanks for your prompt response ;your input is definitely helpful.
Can you pls be slightly more specific about the roles the other IT guys with anrd 5-6 yrs exp ended up with. To be specific, were the roles on offer were more on BA, SeniorBA (for 5+ exp) or were they more into general management/IT Business Dev kinds.
I would be more keen on the later as my current role is pretty much as a prj mngr for IT delivery and would love to move on to core mngmt profiles like General mngmt/ Business dev/program mngmt etc
It would be very helpful to know if ppl with 5-6+ exp did end up with such kind of roles.
Once again thanks for your help

Hello,
First of all , many thanks for this active forum. Really helps us a lot.
I was surprised to know that Great Lakes accepts last yr's CAT scores.(Given in the website : For PGPM 2009, Great Lakes Institute of Management will accept CAT score for the year 2007 and 2008 only. Similarly candidate can submit GMAT score not older than 2006.)
I had 93+ in cat-2007. Do we have the option to choose the better among the two year's scores when we apply?
Also do you think 93+ is a good enough score for a GLIM call? Work ex as of now is 2+ , IT sector.
Expecting your reply. thanks again.

Hi,
Great Lakes will accept CAT scores for year 2007 and 2008. You will have an option of submitting only one score either of 2007 or 2008 when you apply to Great Lakes.
The current batch has a median score of 95.9 percentile and we expect this score to move up for the next batch. However, a good profile is the criteria of selection and not only the scores. Please note that a very good score will ensure that you are selected for the first round at least.
I hope I have answered your query

Hi Wall,
You will be given an option to submit any one of the score of your choice i.e CAT 2007, 2008 or GMAT. So while applying, you can take a call on what score you want to report.
The median CAT score for the current batch is 95.9 . Also the application is evaluated on other parameters too like academic performance work experience, recommendations, statement of purpose, extra curricular activities and the overall value addition that you can provide to the course. You have 2+ years of work ex. So you stand a good chance. All the best to you.
Regards
Gauri

Hi,
I would like to ask whether the admission form of GL is similar to ISB. I know that essay topics and some questions asked from recommenders may change every year. But still, was the admission form of last year similar to that of ISB. Does GL also ask for 2 recommendations and so many essays. I ask this because i feel that filling up this admission form is more difficult than cracking GMAT.
So, just wanted to know how much more pain is in the offing.
Also, i am worried about my recommenders. Dont know if they would be happy to oblige me again.
Thanks.

Dear Track_MBA,
Guys with less than 5 years of experience got roles like Associate BA, BA , Associate Consultant and Consultant. Roles like senior consultant & senior BA were offered to people with 5+ experience. In my earlier post I mentioned about senior management roles, these roles include top roles in marketing & sales.
Feel free if you still have any queries.
Regards,
GS

Hi Glakers,
I am a aspirant with 2+ years of IT experience, But I did my engineering in Chemical Enginnering. I am planning to write CAT this time.
What do you guys think would be preferable score(approx) in CAT to get a call?
Do I have to specify my field of specialization while applying?
Regards,
Harish
