Thanks for your quick response. Our concern was not registered, we are involved in the film industry, which is a pretty unregulated industry, not many concerns are really registered there, probably except a few big production and distribution companies.

Can you please check on this with the management and let us know how its going to be for this yr...
I also have the same concern. I have also seen on PG threads that last year Great Lakes retained only Rs. 10,000 for all the candidates who cancelled their admit after paying a few installments.

Can some one please check with the management and let us know if we can get any amount from the initial deposit of Rs 50,000. Also since
Great Lakes is seeking AICTE approval, the practise followed last year(Deducting Rs 10,000 and returning the rest) was somewhere in confirmity with the AICTE rule where students cancelling admission before course commencement get Amount Paid - Rs 1000 refunded.

Hi Metacog and Obsessed_bout_mba,
Last year we did refund 40000 of the initial 50000 deposit. However, this year the management has decided to retain the 50000 initial deposit and this was mentioned in the initial letter of admission.

Re: Great Lakes Admissions 2009 - 10-06-2009, 01:18 AM

Hi there,

My profile follows :

10th - 84%
12th - 70%
B.E. (Computer Science) - 70%
1.5 years of work ex with Infosys Bangalore
6 months (till date) experience with a s/w co. in Gujarat.

Actively involved in loads of extra currics, though am not too sure which ones would count for this profile and which ones wouldnt.

* Artist- Paint oil on canvas and several other forms, Held 2 painting exhibitons in the past 6 months. Exporting them as well.

* While working with Infy, for the weekends used to voluntarily teach at the 'Swabhimaan' ashram. for girls.

* Organised various events at college, Infy, current work place and family ocassions.

* Participation in all sorts of social service activities and all cultural activities in school and college.

These are faintly a few that I can remember. The list is huge as far as extra currics are concerned.

I know my work ex part looks a little less, but does it prove to be a road-blocker ? Though it doesnt shake my determination to give it my best shot. I am preparing for the GMAT and planning to give the test in the last week of August , this year.

What are my chances for getting into great lakes ? And what is the diff betwenn the 2 courses offered by GL ? coz one of them has the last date of 1st july..

Feedback, Tips n Suggestions , much needed.

Hi Ragarwal,
Your experience is a bit low considering the present batch has a work experience of 44 months and we expect the work experience to increase for the next batch. However you have good academics and your extra curriculars are impressive. If you can manage a score of 710+ backed up with good GD/PI experience, you stand a fairly good chance!!
Great Lakes Executive programme is a 2 year one and is for executives with managerial work experience of 5 years and above.
Do post in case of any further queries and All the best for your GMAT!!

Hi greatlaker,

Even last year it was mentioned in the initial admission letter that 50k is non-refundable...the rule was changed by May end and ppl got 40k by end of May last yr..

Can you please check on this for this year....I hope Great Lakes understands that 50k is a significant amount for students like us and repeat last year's act once again...

Please advise , what should i do to obliterate those 3 GAP years. I am ready to do anything .

Expect more than 700 in GMAT. what GMAT score will suffice in my case ? I will die to do it if it makes difference. please advise.

Hi Sourabh,
You have a good work profile backed my good extra curriculars. However, your GMAT score is on the lower side, as the present batch's median score is 690.
I would also like to mention that Great Lakes does not evaluate students on the GMAT score alone. It takes into account your work experience, extra curriiculars, CAT/GMAT score. academics and performance in GD/PI.So a lower GMAT score will not eliminate you...But higher GMAT score will give you a edge over the others. Do post for any other clarification
