Yes, The cut off for BC students to get a call was 75% last time. But that's not all, Its not that everyone can get into BIM. You will be into a rigorous selection process after getting a call. You should be well prepared to perform in the GD, Essay and Interview. The cut off being low is not so good news for you. Because it increases the number of candidates you will compete with. Some one who gets a lower CAT score may perform better in the subsequent stages and get through. I am not scaring you, but that's something you should not take so lightly.

I was told by someone that, 50% seats are for Tamilnadu students.. And community quota like oc, bc, mbc, sc/st is applicable for this 50% seats?

Dear BIM Maniac,

I came to know certain facts about BIM

--> There is a Placement Officer cum Professor, named Y Laxman Kumar. He takes Bribe from the students to place them. This happened for the batch of 2004-2006 students. Two company sponsored candidates, namely Ashwin and Mehalal, go through campus placement. Which was supposed not to happen. On the other hand 4 non sponsored students were not placed. And when they asked about the same to Laxman, then Laxman demanded a huge amount as bribe to place them.

--> The college has State Reservation. But they do not mention in their prospectus.

--> All of the permanent faculties are Tamils. So if are not from South, then you will be tortured by the faculties. Leading example M Shankara (Finance)

--> You will find everything there like race discrimination, language discrimination, state discrimination... If you don't know Tamil then you are an alien there.

So decide well before you get in there...

I don't know who you are, but you seem hell bent on dampening BIM's reputation with your false claims.
Also, you have taken the pains to create a separate ID to post about BIM, which just shows how desperate you are about spoiling the reputation of a college which has 25 years of excellence to its credit.

Now, let me clarify your claims one by one,

Firstly, there has been no such instance of a faculty asking for bribe from its students for placements. Our placements have always been top-notch. Last year, when most colleges were unable to place their students, BIM registered a 100% placement with the average salary of 7 lakhs.
Secondly, the college has reservations for SC/ST/OBC/MBC candidates as per the norms of a government aided institution. (IIMs also have a same norms )
Lastly, there is no discrimination of any sort. I am personally from Mumbai and not a Tamil by religion, and have never faced any discrimination in the college.
As regards to the faculties, it doesn't matter the place they are from but the qualifications they hold. All professors are experts in their fields, with a host of visiting faculties from all top B-schools and corporates.

I hope this answers your queries. I suggest you please check your facts before accusing any institution of this stature on a public forum.

I am a student of BIM Trichy,i am not a tamil girl and this whole story about discrimination is UTTER NONSENSE.
Faculty are very friendly and this is an institution which proved its credibility when many colleges were struggling with their placements.
please dont post false and insane information about things which you dont know.
please keep your psychological problems to yourself and do not use such public forums for your timepass.

dude i dont know if your anger against BIM is because you were not selected in it or something else, BUT you should mind your words before you use such harsh words against any institute, leave aside an institute of the stature of BIM.
First things first!!! the placement coordinator bribe thing which you are speaking of is unheard here. So i directly question the integrity and credibility of the further content of your post.
Secondly, any government institute in a state has the quota for the residents of that state...but that doesnt mean that there are no general seats. I am a student of BIM and a general category student from UTTAR PRADESH. I chose BIM after getting selected for many other premier B-schools, and mind it, it was not under any compulsion. The quota thing is explicity mentioned on the website (but probably, you didnt take the pains to go through the website).
Thirdly, who told you that the faculties from south india are not good? if that is not the case then does it really matter to a SINCERE student whether the faculty has a Subramanium or Gupta as his surname. All the faculties in BIM are at par with those in any other premium B School.
lastly, as far as the discrimination is concerned, no one has ever experienced that at BIM...moreover discrimination here is quality-based and not region based.
I expect all those reading this post must have got their doubts cleared.
I hope the moderators are looking into this matter seriously!!!

All of you seem to have graduated after 2008.

If you are so much concerned about BIM, the why don't you ask the 2004-06 passed out students.

It has been a tradition in BIM to specify 100% placement every year, even if the fact is not true. Go and ask Laxmana about this and tell him to show the records for 100% placements over the years.

-> The Bribe Issue : If Industry sponsored candidates are not supposed to take part in the placement process then how come 2 students (Ashwini & Mehalala ) were placed. Laxmana took bribe. Four students were not place that year. Go and ask them or send a mail to them. Even if in their senior batch 2003-05, 3 students were not placed.

-> Reservation issue : All the college has reservations for SC/ST/OBC/MBC candidates as per the norms of a government aided institution. But I am talking about State Reservation, which BIM doesn't mentions in its prospectus. Most of the colleges in Mumbai (like Narsee Monjee) do mention that they have State Reservation. Then why not BIM.

-> Faculty issue : If you want to check the true potential of the students, then invite all visiting faculty from other states. More than 50% of the students will fail. If you are so much concerned about the Tamil faculties, the after the exam, send the answer sheets to other universities and see the results.

So before replying have a look at the History of BIM. Don't remain in the present fact only.
