such irresponsible actions are not expected from a b-school.. i understand its a govt. b-school but it doesnt mean they can be so lethargic.. my frnds who are studying in other b-schools told me not to consider ubs as an option and i laughed them off...now just waiting for list it seems clear what will happen once we get there.. and probably people rejected elsewhere will be joining ubs ( i could be one of them) .. with this attitude i doubt their commitment to teach.. they seem too easy going.. its good ubs refuses to be part of b-school rankings now..

and yes as somebody posted stdents will be there to fill up seats.. even small engineering colleges running a MBA program manage to do that.. its the quality of students that make a b-school .. cant ubs people see where they are going...

Re: UBS 2009-2011 Admission Queries - 12-03-2009, 10:33 PM

I have a questions:

If UBS doesn't receive enough applicants to fill in reserved categories seats (Like Sports.. ) then does they adjust those unfilled seats in General category as in the case of Central Universities or the no. of seats is fixed even if the seats remains unfilled?

Also, I would like to make a complain that if there were no seats for OBCs then why UBS has written in its bulletin :

"14% for non-creamy Other Backward Classes (OBC). Applicant to submit a certificate (as per format) that he/she belongs to Non-Creamy OBC category. For determining OBCs the central notification (as at National Commission for Backward Classes) will be followed. The percentage in 2009-10 is subject to change in the light of the implementation of OBC quota."

I paid Rs. 2000 (Small town, Bribe system) to get my OBC certificate. I purely wasted that money. Thanks to UBS administration.

Never quit..

Geek, don't worry you can keep that certificate with you as it will save your time and money incase you need it later sometime. Also you can use it in colleges that have OBC reservation.

But there's hardly any category in which a seat remains vacant here .College finds enough applicants who are ready to take admission, as around 8 times students are called , and those students can't find a seat in any other college due to low scores/percentiles so they will surely join.

But I am surprised to see that 50% OF TOTAL SEATS are reserved in UBS.
Its more than most govt. institutes like fms/iims etc. That leaves very few open seats. There are 10 different reserved categories sharing 50% of seats so quality of students will surely lack on certain accounts.

i totally agree with u my friend..u r correct..it USED TO BE a gud b-school... not any more..
1. the placements have seen a dip not this year but from the last2 years...
2. this year they have delayed the results till april first week..
3. introduced the 10% sectional marks cutoff ..i think this is the most absurd thing abt the clg... who knws wat will b da difficulty level of CAT each year...it might or might not b possible to get 10% marks in each section... a percentile cutoff makes sense but the percentage marks cut-off thing is totally absurd and unacceptable...

is it? if you think 10 % criteria is not a gud thing then what do u want ....I know some very good colleges where people scoring in negative territory are also getting calls and even converting them. ALso IIM A has clearly mentioned that in any case what so ever be the category they will not accept any one below 25% sectional score. I think this strategy is for screening all those who score simply on the basis of one or two sections..which is not sufficient for a B school...and 10% is not that big score If you are willing to take admission in some good B school.

Don't AIM for a single SUCCESS,........... Make it your HABIT.....
