My interview was only about maths and basketball[my hobby], another question was on my area of work.

Guys I rarely remember getting a AIR in my mocks or for that matter a mock CAT in which I cleared all cut-offs with ease. But what I know for sure is, I never gave up.

I sat in GDs and PIs with BLACKIs and IITians, they are very talented and hard-working people, but hey I am no lesser and neither are you.

I remember reading a similar thread on PG last year and wonder if I'd ever get through an IIM.

The fact is never bother about the goal, just put in the efforts that are required to achieve it, before you'd realise, the goal is yours.

Your marks, achievements, extra-curriculars are all a thing of the past. If you have done well in these, please pat yourself and in case you haven't fared too well, now is the time to mend it.

I read stories of other puys and their struggles, this always helped me undermine any difficulty that I faced.

Stories of Prem Ravi and Siddharth Arora made me realise what extent do people go to realise their dreams.

To all aspirants - my 5 cents ---->
Take a note of what naren31 said(2 posts above)....we(both me nd naren) were together when we attended all tat mock GDs and PI...thr were fellow aspirants mostly from IITs,RECs(NITs)...big colleges,bigger marks, big achievements.....
but one thing was thr, I never found myself lesser than any of those ppl...
If u show the confidence, if u show the will power, then nothing can stop u from getting thru..
I was a lone IIM call getter...and I converted tat!!! My marks are ordinary...All these things are important, but secondary...It is u, ur personality and how u carry it tat matters at the end of day...
PG has also been very helpful in my quest...all the mods and seniors have been extremly helpful!!!!
I thank them for making my dream a reality!!!!

Hi Everybody,

Here is my story.
Xth: 89.2 (Maharashtra Board) 22nd Merit.
XIIth: 93.5
Bachelors: Chemical Engineering, 73%, LIT, Nagpur.
Work Experience: 3 Years in Honeywell. Out of which 1 year was in UK.

CAT 2007 - first attempt of CAT.
OA: 98.8%
QA: 91.57% (lost a few IIM calls here)
DI: 96.27%
VB: 98.77%
GD/PI Calls: IIML, NITIE, IMT-G, MDI PGPM and PGPIM, SCMHRD.
Converts: IIML, NITIE, IMT-G, MDI( waitlisted but was sure to convert)

Had just one IIM call, which thankfully was able to convert.
Lucknow GD was good. In PI could not answer some Engineering maths questions. But the part about my job profile went extremely well. I had SIX SIGMA green belt certification and work-ex in UK. That helped me in most of the PIs.
Overall i think my score was a lil less by IIM standards. But i compensated with a strong job profile. Extra curriculars: nothing much to write about. Won a few quizes here and there and a few painting competitions.

Congratulations to all call getters!!! See you in IIMs.

Its such a dream come true posting in this thread.. I also used to be astonished by the people who used to crack CAT and go to IIMs. They seemed to be a different people, but its not so. I realized and proved it this time..

My advice to the puys is that CAT is not a hard exam, its a hyped exam. Have the belief that you can crack it and you will..

Speaking about mocks, everybody requires different kind of needs but one thing is very clear- dont take mock scores too seriously. They are places where you can improve not a place where you need to prove.
There had been times when there were very low scores for me, especially my last mock was my worst with 78 percentile. But still I knew I can do it.

Once you get through written exam, be confident and try to know about yourself.. IIMs want just good people not hi-fi bonds..
