Finally get to post my profile on this thread.Well this post is dedicated to all those puys whose profile is as extraordinary as mine.......

A total of 22 months out of 36 months from the day of grad. I have two breaks of 6 months and 22 months of work ex is split over 3 companies.

GD: Spoke very well in gd and infact showed enough skills to lead the group.Was definitely the best speaker in the group.

Interview:Showed a very cool attitude and explained very clearly my stance on ne topic....well I did screw up my technical questions big time.

Finally when the result came , it was definiterly the best moment of my life.....

PS: When such an extraordinary person like me (with such an impressive academic and work profile) can make it to IIM.....each and every applicant has the chance to make it big..........So all those who feel that their profile may go against them...........All I can is is that perseverance is the only key...........All the very Best.

IIMI STORY

GD - DECENT DIDNT GET TO SPEAK MUCH AS I WAS THE SILENT ONE....GAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION TO EVERYONE IN THE GROUP....
PI - GOT DEEP FRIED AND SPRAYED WITH SPECIAL SAUCE........BUT MANAGED TO SAVE MY DIGNITY......HAD THE SHORTEST INTERVIEW AMONG MY GD GROUP..... BUT JOINING I NOW

This is after working 12 hr days at Jamnagar for the last 8 months.......in the sweltering heat and numbing cold.....so the big guy smiles on me....:-).....again:wink:

Well... I have been converting IIM calls for two years now... I have the average profile of an IIM candidate... And that has cost me this year...

My Profile:

10th: 89.14% (Gujarat Board)
12th: 78.15% (Gujarat Board)

Engineering (Elex. and Comm.): 7.39/10 (68.9%) (Nirma University)

Extra-Curriculars:
1. Finance Director in ISTE students' chapter in college
2. 3rd prize in national level technical paper presentation competition
3. 1st prize in poem writing in college level competition
4. Was doing an Entrepreneurship Development Institute course this year

Experience:
Cognizant Technology Solutions (2 months at the time of IIM-K interview)

2006:
Calls: FMS, MDI, IIM-L (ABM) (98.79%ile)
Converted: IIM-L (ABM)
Didn't go

2007:
Calls: IIM-ACIKL, MDI, IIFT (99.86%ile)
Converted: IIM-K, MDI


For future call-getters: (This is generic info... Exceptions are there but the percentage is miniscule)
I think profile (either academic record or experience or both) matters in all top institutes, especially
1. IIM-A (though it is not very explicit about it, if you go through the records of people selected, you will find most have very good academic record, or have experience of at least 2 years),
2. IIM-B (as everyone knows, IIM-B prefers people with good academic record... Here even CAT percentiles don't matter unless they are 100)
3. IIM-L (this year they have started giving calls also on this basis... People with 99.79%ile also have not got calls.. Since the PGP at IIM-L is considered the toughest among all IIMs except probably IIM-A)

At IIM-C and K, focus is more on your team skills and general knowledge and logical communication skills than anything else
At IIM-K and I, more questions are asked on acads..

This has been my experience...

5. Concentrate on Micropicture.. details of small things.. Macropicture takes
care of itself..
