IIMI Right To Information ACT - 08-07-2008, 03:08 PM

In CAT 2007 my score was

Quant- 99.56
DI - 89.53
Verbal - 91.98
TOTAL- 98.93

I am general Category candidate and had no work experience.
At IIMI 2 step selection process was adopted for GD PI shortlist.
Step 1 : Minimum Percentile Requirement for First Shortlist (General Category)
Quant- 80.00
DI- 80.00
Verbal - 80.00
TOTAL- 85.00

A list ( say shortlist 1 ) was prepared based on this criteria.
According to this criteria I should be in this list.

Step 2 : Final Shortlist

Candidates satisfying the above-mentioned criteria were ranked in decreasing order of a weighted overall score that was based on a combination of their performance in CAT-2007 and their prior work experience. Performance in CAT was given a weightage of 90% and work experience was given a weightage of 10% to calculate the overall score. Required numbers of candidates were called for GD/PI from top of this list , prepared separately for each category.

Total 1247 general category candidates were selected in final shortlist .
The candidates in the final shortlist had an overall percentile score of at least the figures given in the brackets against each category of candidates – General (98.09).

I was not in this list.

Now I want answer of some questions. All my questions are about candidates who were in final shortlist and had no work experience.

Question No. 1 : What was lowest Quantitative percentile of a candidate(who had no work experience) and who were in final shortlist ?

Question No. 2 : What was lowest Logic and Data Interpretation percentile of a candidate(who had no work experience) and who were in final shortlist ?

Question No. 3 : What was lowest Verbal percentile of a candidate(who had no work experience) and who were in final shortlist ?

Question No. 4 : What was lowest total percentile of a candidate(who had no work experience) and who were in final shortlist ?

Question No. 5 : How many candidates were in final shortlist (who had no work experience) and whose total percentile was between 98.09 and 98.93 (both inclusive)

What should I do ?
Whom should I contact
?
Do I need to send a formal application or an email will do?

Hi Desti,

My suggestions/views

1. Dont use final shortlist... Write final shortlist for GD/PI...

2. I doubt if they'll entertain you now for GD/PI..I wish you'd initiated it before GD/PI's...you might have ended up with a call ... Though through RTI,They'll answer for the same.

3. Correct CAT year

4. check this Indian Institute of Management Indore - Public Grievance Redressal Committee IIMI

A promise that i couldnt keep....

I do not know how to file RTI application

1.) I can print whatever I have written here on A4 size paper

2.) I can make make a demand draft of certain amount payable at State bank of India Indore

3.) I can send these two documents through speed Post to IIMI RTI officer.

whatelse I need to write or do ?

actually there was two thread in other management entrance exam section for "FMS-Right To Information ACT" . So I thought there can be one thread for RTI-IIM here also.

And also just imagine suppose with the help of few people I get answer of these five questions, then how many people will get benefit ?
So many people .

People will have at least some idea about what was cutoff .

It will also help those who are preparing for CAT 2008
.

But my Point is its too late for this year & this is going to become a spammers paradise..Now rather debating on what has happened, why dont you invoke the RTI & get the answer & post the same....

Action rather discussing will help everyone..

Re: IIMI Right To Information ACT - 19-08-2008, 04:37 PM

I have got reply from IIMI and IIMK

Question No. 1 : What was lowest Quantitative percentile of a candidate(who had no work experience) and who were in final shortlist ?

IIMI : score-17.00 & percentile-81.00
IIMK:
percentile-92

Question No. 2 : What was lowest Logic and Data Interpretation percentile of a candidate(who had no work experience) and who were in final shortlist ?

IIMI : score-33.33 & percentile-82.22
IIMK:
percentile-92

Question No. 3 : What was lowest Verbal percentile of a candidate(who had no work experience) and who were in final shortlist ?

IIMI : score-17.00 & percentile-81.74
IIMK:
percentile-92

Question No. 4 : What was lowest total percentile of a candidate(who had no work experience) and who were in final shortlist ?

IIMI : score-35.11 & percentile-98.17
IIMK:
percentile-98

Question No. 5 : How many candidates were in final shortlist (who had no work experience) and whose total percentile was between 98.09 and 98.93 (both inclusive)

IIMI : 17
IIMK: 0

IIM Indore also writes that

IIM Indore has not applied percentile based sectional cutoff but candidates were ranked in decreasing order of a weighted overall score that was based on a combination of their performance in CAT 2007 and their prior work experience.

The last candidate on list with no work expercience had a weighted overall score of 34.38675 whereas you had a weighted overall score of 30.95550.

Now I still have some question

1.) What functions and equations were used for calculating overall score at IIM Indore ? Will they tell if I ask ?

2.) Does answers of question 4 and question 5 by IIMK make sense ?
Initially they were saying that lowest percentile of a candidate shortlisted for GD-PI was 98.09 but now the are saying that its only 98.

Also they are saying that candidate having no work ex was selected with percentile 98 but no of candidate with no work ex and having percentile between 98.09 and 98.93 is 0.

It just does not make sense. This reply is signed by Prof Krishna Kumar, Director of IIM Kozhikode.

whats your opinion ?
