PT had its first mock CAT today. n being free i guess many non-PTites too took the test. please post ur scores n attempts and views about the paper.

I am a newbie here n this was my very first mock CAT ever and i spared no effort in making it a total debacle of a debut.

attempts: 26
correct: 9
wrong: 17

OA: 9

I too gave the test..

My score was as below:-

DI= -2
Verbal=4
Quant=8
Total= 10

I know it was a pathetic start... Too many incorrect..

Atteded Prac-cat yesterday at gurgaon center, really tuff,

scored in minus, really screwed up in all the sections

need ur help, what to do now

yep.. PT= professional tutorials....

Pattern was
22 Q in each section so total 66 Q
5 marks for correct and
-2 marks for incorrect

Don't worry about Prac CAT 01... I had given PracCAT last time too.. It seems as it is free and scholarship test-- it is tough... For the time being, concentrate on percentile..

You should solve all the problems of all the sections at home and if you dont understand then look into solution booklet...

i think in DI- duckworth Lewis one was moderate but options were very very close, so had to work it out... DS problems were moderate..

in quant, DS problems were moderate ones(last three)..

i have my reservations on PT key for verbal... (from my experience of XAT key of verbal)

Hi Ravi,

Yes was able to solve Duckworth problem,

English was tough, and got mostly wrong,

quant was not able to solve much, as quant and me are enemy of each other from very starting.

can you tell me how to improve in quant, any good books, i m following arun sharma

For clearing concepts on quant, you can follow arun sharma.. otherwise my advice would be to go for any coaching institute material like TIME, IMS, CL or PT..
Reason--> material will be to the point which is your aim....also shortcuts will be there... Target is not to do some PhD in quant but do enough to solve maximum Qs in the CAT

Hi,
I myself used Arun Sharma once, but didnt like it too much....too many repetitive questions and some wrong answers as well.....
I use another book, by CAT's eye publication, authored by K.Kundan and P. Pandey. Its a brilliant book, both for concepts and practicing good questions. I was initially weak in Geometry and P&C but with the help of that book i feel a lot more confident that i will be able to handle all sitters and medium-level difficulty questions....

This was my first mock of the season....[T = Total attempts, C= Correct, W = Wrong]
DI - T12 C7 W5 - 25
E - T13 C8 W5 - 30
M - T11 C10 W1 - 48

Total - 103

Though I believe that my effective score is about 10-15 marks less than that since i took the test at home, (albeit in as much simulation of test situation possible)
