Hello,
Thanks for opening the thread.
I am an OBC candidate but still not clear about this reservation system.
Questions: - How this quota will benefit the OBC students?
- Will OBC candidates get calls (from IIMs) even if he or she doesn't get very good percentile (say close to 90 overall) in CAT 2008?
- Please list some of the good institutes where the quota will be implemented.
Thank you. | | | | | | | |

Hi Puys, I dont think this kind of discussion should be there on this thread. There must be some other thread on Pagalguy for this which i am not aware of right now. This kind of discussions will have hidden implications most of them bad. I rather not enlist them here. This topic is a very sensitive issue for many people. So @mod, before this thread turns into a battlefield by inflammatory comments, I request you to look into it as soon as possible. | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to medulla For This Useful Post:

Also, the person who started it has no intention to hurt anyone's feeling. This thread is for the person who have doubt regarding the OBC reservation and related information for CAT 2008. So, i believe it would be great help for many people on PG. This thread is not discussing various Quota issues of India. This is to solve the queries of OBC Candidates regarding CAT 2008. Please don't be so pessimist. I am sure there are people who would like to ask questions instead of creating a mess about Quota issues.
I request moderator please monitor the thread but please don't close is it as it may be beneficial for many people on PG..

Thank you | Hi geek04, mod and others,
My best wishes for the thread if it grows up in a healthy manner. That was the only intention.I was a bit skeptical because I have seen mess on the other forums.
I hope that your doubts would be clarified here and the thread does not turn ugly.

Thank you. | 1) For the academic session 2009-2010, each IIM would be reserving around 15 - 17 % of the total seats for the candidates belonging to OBC quota. These seats would be granted to Non-Creamy OBC candidates only. You need to get the Non-Creamy layer certificate from the competent authority in the prescribed format. The IIMs may publish the format in the CAT bulletin. A sample copy has been attached.
2) It is unlikely that the percentile cutoff for OBC candidates will fall to as low as 90 %, as least for the next academic session. It may hover around 96 - 98 %
3) All the IIMs, IITs, IIFT, NITIE, FMS fall under the OBC quota purview | | | | | The Following 5 Users Say Thank You to Abhi@IIMA For This Useful Post:

One Small advice here:-
Kindly restrict the discussions only to the facts ie data of last year / present year..
Kindly dont speculate things which may lead to unnecessary discussions & fights..
Dont get personal please..
Year after year threads have been opened & closed, kindly ensure that atleast this thread serves its actual purpose... Success retained me as a boy, But Failure made me a MAN ORKUT ID
