I have also started preparing for the CAT

Joined TIME test series

Gave CAT last time also without much preparation ...

Got 80.xx percentencile .....
Got a call from IIM Bangalore .... cudnt convert it screwed big time im GD

As far as my profile goes ...
x 82 %
xII 75 %
b.e (mumbai university) 64 %

Currently workin in Infosys for the last 20 months

I had a query what is the minimum percentile required to guarantee a call from all the 6 IIMs

No fixed percentile can gaurntee u all the SEVEN IIM (consider shillong as well) calls... see let me put it this way cosider u have scored 99%ile but u would not get a call from IIM A in case u dont clear the cutoffs in one section... so in this case inspite of having a very good percentile u would not get a call from IIMA, every IIM have their own criteria ... that u can get from their respective sites... but to end it on a happy note...around 95%ile will fetch u all the 6 calls...

Well as IIMs dont have any clear criteria about shortlisting for the GD/PI calls , even though they tell that they consider 90% percent of cat wriiten performance and 10% for relevent work exerience. so near about 95% can get u all the calls .

hope for the best.


PS: This is author's personal opinion and can be differ from puys.

i suggest u go to IMS website and check out the cut off for all the IIMS apart from that your acads and work ex is taken in to consideration for the final shortlist

Ya we can say that 95+ can fetch all calls but for IIMB and IIML profile does matters. So hard to comment for them.
Guys lets start putting our scores of mocks just to check where we standing in our category.

Hello All,
This is my first reply in PG after all these years of speculations/tensions/dreams etc etc.I never imagined that I would be on the other side of the table.Anyways , I am presently in IIML though got through IIMK and IIMI as well.
Some steps that you should do right now :
1) Go thru the Time/CL/IMS/CF/PT websites and check the pattern of CAT 2007 and other available papers.Make sure you want to do a MBA before you actually start preparations
2) Please check what all things you have to read and start preparing the basics.
3) Join Time/CL for the Test Series and try to analyze the paper which will be communicated in the Time website.
4) Don't be demoralised at any pt of time.You will get it one day.I got it in my fourth attempt though was waitlisted a couple of times in IIMK/FMS in previous years.
5)Please don't be bothered about percentiles given in Time/CL right now.Just focuss on your studies and keep yourself motivated.(I used to get 70.**%in most of my scores).
