well now that the hectic and crazy weekend is over...we can get back to our study routines i guess...
i could not afford to c the thread again going in2 oblivion...so am back to share wot all i did since ma last post oer these 3 days...

other than taking Mocks...i have jus finished analysing AIM 0909...and today i wil complete CL mock 6 analysis and mayb take up AIM 0908 or do a QA/DI section from a past paper...woteva i do wil b bak 2mrw to post any significant learnings...

as f now...nthin much to share...cuz AIM 0909 is passe...since there wont b any more confy's i suggest people come up with their doubts/methods/strategies on the thread...we can speak here as well...

all the best for the preparation...tis arnd 10weeks to go...we r entering the final lap...do utilise ur time but don't burn out slogging...gve urslf breaks u deserve...and its mre bt d mental part...so hve a fresh and focussed mind....and gradually build up d momentum for D day.

hmmm....had a question regarding the second DI set.
Though its not very probable to come in the mainstream exams, nevertheless, am not being able to understand the concept.

After getting 80 as C's total score in the tourney, how the heck are we arriving at the total scores for each of the five other matches?
i didnt understand this part where since 12 is C's score in match III, 15 would be the min total score (and then 20 and then 25.....)

What i gathered from this DI was, it would have been intelligent to select out the last three sets and max out all the questions for the 3 caselets, maybe skipping q no 25 (since twas lengthy. )
I failed at my strategy of jumping through all the caselets and trying to identify the sitter questions of each caselet. Well, not everytime, luck smiles on you, and since these were more reasoning based, there was a whole lot more sunk cost for each caselet.

hello puys.......................well after a dramatic and exhaustive weekend.......i finally could recover my senses .........so firstly.........i would like to bring up the most important issue(related to our team)...ie the analysis session........i would definitely reiterate the fact that such sessions are extremely important and helpful to most o us(including me )..........so parting with it wud be disastrous ............but at the same time .........it is incomplete without the active paticipation o all(as stated by others like billy, love n ribanan).........neway by the overwhelming response......i feel we all are ready to make amends and literally force our beloved skip to reconsider his decision ...............

@rik..........4 the team sake......lets give it an another shot............
@others......maximum participation is the utmost necessity of such sessions ..............so 4 accommodating all.......timings could be made flexible......but 4 that...........we have to inform the skip about our preferences b4hand......i feel this would make his job a bit easier.......



ps............since we missed out on aim 0909 (one o the best papers set by time)discussion.............i suggest that we can include it in this week session............ie (aim 0908 n 0909 2gethr).............i know it looks like a tedious prospect but i dnt wanna lose out............neway let the consensus decide n i will
abide to their decision.....................

a certain type of perm comm question where most of us tend to make a mistake...this type of question appeared of late in a couple f AIMCATs...and soumya hve been pushing me for the correct method...

here it is...

Q.There are 3 states and 3 students representing each state. In how many ways can 5 students be chosen such that atleast one student is chosen from each state?
Ans:
Since atleast one student from every state has to be chosen, the ways of selection of 5 students are two:
(a)Three students from one state and one student from the other two:
The state from which three students are chosen can be selected in 3C1 ways. One student from the remaining two states can be chosen in 3C1*3C1 ways. So the total number of ways is 3C1*3C1*3C1=27
(b)Two students from one state, two from other and one from the remaining one state:
Two states can be chosen in 3C2 ways.From each of these states two students can be chosen in 3C2 ways.From the remaining state one student can be chosen in 3C1 ways. So total number of ways is 3C2*3C2*3C2*3C1=81.

So total number of ways = 27+81=108

WRONG APPROACH:
The common wrong approach -

First one student from each state can be chosen in 3C1*3C1*3C1 ways. Then, the remaining two students can be chosen out of the left 6 students in 6C2 ways. So the total number of ways = 3C1*3C1*3C1*6C2 = 405 ways.
As can be seen, the answer is higher than the actual answer.The reason is that many cases are being repeated.To illustrate the point let's call the selection of first three students as STAGE1 and selection of remaining two students as STAGE2. so we consider two cases - in one student A is chosen from State 1 and in other student B is chosen from State 1 in STAGE A.

CASE1:
Stage1: Student A is chosen among the three students.
Stage2: Student B is chosen among the two students.
Result: Student A and B are present in the final selection.

CASE2:
Stage1: Student B is chosen among the three students.
Stage2: Student A is chosen among the two students.
Result: Studen A and B are present in the final selection.

As we can see the two cases give the same result but we are calculating them differently hence the bigger answer.
