Great idea of meeting up.
I can get in touch with Chop suey and see if he can turn up as well.
But meeting every week can be a bit difficult. So why not arrange a meet online?
Let us all agree upon a common time of a day when maximum of us can turn up and discuss.
And yes as per vivekkahn's request why not meet up on the 10th of August?
I will post for a PG meet on the 10th so that even the experts turn up and we can have one great time.
I am posting for the PG meet on the Mumbai PG meet thread.
Continue the discussion for it on the following thread. http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/pagalg...ml#post1191477 ([10th Aug 2008] The MuMbAI PG Meet) My Blog / My Mock Scores

Hey this idea of a mumbai meet on the 10th is good!!!
However, I am just a bit sceptical abt turning up every sunday..
My argument is that not only would we be wasting precious time in commuting - and this is a serious issue, everyone will agree- but also the idea of meeting up immediately after a mock ( or mocks, for ppl like me) would tantamount to a bunch of tired heads chaotically drooling over a cup of mocha on a problem from the theory of combinatorics, which otherwise each one of them would have been able to solve on their own-alone- after taking rest for a couple of hrs!!
Again, meeting immediately after a mock would mean meeting without PROPER preparation. Meeting without "proper" preparation would mean meeting without reason. Hence, I propose that ONLINE G-Talk meets be organised on SATURDAYS.
Why Saturdays?? 'Cause we would have a good 6 days to have prepared for the mock the next day and that we would be better poised to share strategies etc.
Please ponder over it. Incase the above is extremely negative, I apologise.
But someone had to spell out matters the hard way

But wouldn't it be more useful to dissect the mock on SUNDAY itself or maybe MONDAY ?
If we try to dissect a mock after 6 days, aren't we losing the plot
But U have a pt abt tired dudes pondering over qs after travelling for x hrs. It may not be effective. Maybe ppl taking mocks at the same centre can meet up.
And the entire team can have a conference on a predetermined time every SUNDAY / MONDAY.
Cheers Not only am I not learning, I'm forgetting stuff I used to know

Cheers | Yup..dont have an issue..Monday woud be a problem with office and all....not an issue if the minutes are posted on the thread.
But once again, think about it..Sundays..you would be needing a minimum of 2 hrs to analyse the mock...and abt 5 hrs to analyse 2 of them ...hence,
HAH..now I feel as if I am just engaging in usless banter, harping on the same issue If your enemy is superior, evade him. If angry, irritate him. If equally matched, fight, and if not split and reevaluate.

An interesting post by tanveer...especially helpful ppl who r worried abt their verbal scores... Quote:
With 3 -3.5 months left to CAT you cannot afford to have a very VA-centric approach.
But here are some quick strategies for a 2 month period which could help you raise your VA percentiles and your confidence as well as boost your GDPI prep
Buy last ten year's CAT papers.
Solve the VA section of each year.
Get hold of the Mocks of at least one more insti. Make sure that you are solving at least two VA mocks per week.
(a)While doing the above you will come across words you have not heard.
Though these words are unlikely to be repeated there is a high probability that similar words or synonyms for these words will be used by the CAT
Punch these words into Dictionary.com.
It will throw up up words with similar meanings.
Glance through those words.
If you are even more dedicated you can note some of them down to revise just before the CAT
(b) While doing the RC's you will get a hang of the topics being given. For every RC select a significant sentence . Go to Google Scholar . Punch that sentence in! It will throw up some very erudite articles on that topic. Read them. It will give you a headache!!
But you will get a hang of the level of RC's of the CAT
(c) On one of the threads -CAT - THE SOURCE. I have posted the sources of recent VA questions. go through those websites. Guardian, BBC..etc..
(d) Religiously follow the following magazines
(1) Businessworld (weekly)
(2) India Today (fortnightly)
(3) Competition Success Review (monthly)
(4) Reader's Digest (monthly)
Apart from this scan a newspaper daily.
(e)Buy Arun Sharma's .. book for CAT -VA. It helps to some extent since it gives you a bunch of question on the same topic in one place
(f) Keep a dictionary on your study table. Scan it once in a while especially for words that have big entries. You need to know these words having multiple meanings. they may help in the Vocab questions
(g) Refer to a Grammar book. When you are doing Sentence correction exercises -try to identify the grammar area the sentence correction hits e.g. Agreement of verb with subject. Then go to the grammar book and look up the topic and study it more extensively
I know the above is a tough task .. ...but believe me if you can even do 40-50% of the above esp. the Mocks and past year's CAT papers.. you will see your VA percentiles go up!!!
Trust me!!

[quote=vivekkahn;1191407]Question 30...
Forget everything...let AB=4a and CD=3b (DH=HI=IC=b)...So AD=2a and 4a=3b.
now area of a triangle (T...representation) = .5*base*height...
consider T KFG and T JFG, base is same, of length 'a', heigth for T KFG = 2a * 2/3 and for T JFG its half of it, 2a/3...
so find areas of T's and subtract to get shaded region, which comes out to be (a^2)/3...
area of rectangle = 8a^2...
so ratio = 1:24...
Hey Vivek,
I am unable to understand "heigth for T KFG = 2a * 2/3 and for T JFG its half of it, 2a/3...".....if you could please explain this again.....
terribly weak in QA but will improve
