Also I feel that confidence has an important role to play. Its good to start with your strongest/weakest section, but don't think about it while doing the section. I used to score in the high 70s in the aimcats of 2007. Only this year did I realise that I am capable of more. I used to carry the assumption that I was weak in quant and my score would barely touch the cutoff. This year my quant percentile usually hovers around 96%ile. Ofcourse, hard training has enabled this, but more importantly I got rid of my mindblock and started to like quant.
It remains to be seen if I continue doing well in quant, but I share this becoz it was an eyeopener for me. Don't give yourself weaknesses. Hope this ain't too much gyaan. | Looks like a post typed in by me
A thought right out of my heart - Breaking metal barriers and thoughts. We go fast, have an accident, and the next time around, speed gives us an eerie feeling. We go hard at quant, get smashed in the face, and there is a mental block which forces us to look at ourseleves as deficient.
This might seem like an irrelavant post to most, but grim has probably hit upon something that we all see, but don't realise. Having the right attitude is as important as having the right approach. We really need to get rid of these mental blocks and realise that irrespective of what our weakness is, with sufficient time and practise, it can be overcome. Let not these blows pull you down. Get stronger with each failiure and realise that it only reiterates the importance of our goal! We score a 50%ile in all our mocks and make it big on D-day, it is all worth it in the end and not vice-a-versa!
The key to the mock cats is to eliminate the fear of failiure and inculcate a sense of steady learning. Don't look at what the result has given you; look at how much u can squeeze out of the mock. See how a mock can help you on your CAT journey, and not how much a result matters. The IIMs won't select anyone on the basis of the mocks. The amount of competition in the mocks is probably making us forget the true objective - Voulantary learning - The key to cracking the exam on D Day. I work to see that I get the most out of the money I have paid for the test series. A 99%ile is good - It boost my confidence. But it also reminds me of how much I need to learn to stay up there.
Anyways, I am on leave today - and hence the unsolicited gyaan Quote: |

Hi all
My mock scores are 73.2 in 914
Finally the decision is taken.I am quitting from premier league.I am seeing many people who are deserved to be in the team .Lets not waste one position and put the team down.
I hope many new puys can be replaced for me for a better score.
Nishanth: you can replace me with some puy.

Fabio | I don't understand what has your not doing well in the mock to do with the team going down. Are we all in the team only to take it to the top of the table in the so-called premier league? As if being on the top would give us an added advantage.
If you thought this team has place only for those who score 90+%ile consisently, hardly few people would find a place in the team. (This is a diplomatic way of saying I would be the first one to be kicked out. ) Not for nothing we are called the THE UNDERDOGS. | | | | | The Following 8 Users Say Thank You to exile For This Useful Post: | | | | | |

a.28
b.33
c.29
d.30
| My ans is B) 33 Approach
I split the group into Males and Females Given
MALES||FEMALES
9Boys 7 Firangis
9Men
Deduced
There are 7 firangi boys. So No of Indian boys are 2.
Indian males is given as 6. So Indian men are 4 and Firangi men are 5. Indian children are 5, so Indian Girls are 3.
Total Indians are 14, so Indian women = 14-(2+4+3) = 5
Therefore total number of ppl are 14+12 (Firangi Males)+ 7(Firangi Females)
== 33 Quote:

P->S,R
S,R are siblings and P is the daughter of Q,T
So, S is son-in-law for T... Dunno where I'm going wrong
EDIT: Even after reading exile's ans I'm still not convinced that I'm wrong Quote:

To validate the statement, I have to turn over A, E, 2 and 7.
So 4 in total Quote:

a.Vinay,Idli

Vinay always Idli. The soln is similar to exile's

b.33
c.29
d.30 | ans b.33 Quote:
Then S is T’s
a.daughter
b.son
c.husband
d.grandchild
| ans.d.grandchild
According to statement I:
(T)
|
X---y (x and y can P,Q,R,S and are spouse and also T is female)
According to statement II:
A
|
(C)---B-bro-R (A,B & C are unknown, B & C are spouse and B & R brothers and also C is female)
According to statement III:
Q
|
M (M is again an unknown with Q being male)
According to statement IV:
(P)---N-bro--O (N and O are unknowns and are siblings and p is N's wife)
Now try combining all these statements
From statement I and II, since its an five members family
T in statement I can take A's place in statement II
Now the diagram will look like
T
|
(C)---B-bro-R
C in the above diagram can be replaced by P in the statement IV
Now the diagram will look like
(T)
|
(P)---B-bro-R
Now from statement III
Two case arises
i) (T) __ Q ___| ___ | __(P)---S-bro-R
ii) (T) ___| ___(P)---Q-bro-R ________| ________S
if we consider case (i) we can see that out of the 4 statements mentioned in question 2 is made by S and since 4 statements are made by four different persons case (i) is wrong. Quote: How many of the cards must be turned over to prove the validity of the statement ‘Every card with a vowel on one side has a prime number on the other side. ’?
a.5
b.3
c.6
d.4
| answer to this is 5.
Although by turning A, E, 2 and 7 we can say that it satisfies the above statement but if a number like 6 or 8 contains an vowel on the other side the statement will go wrong hence after turning vowels and prime we should turn either a consonant or numbers that are not prime to validate the statement.
therefore A,E,2,7 and D/8/6/9 Quote:
Q)Vinay, Ravi and Rajesh are great friends....
a.Vinay,Idli
b.Ravi,Dosa
c.Rajesh,Dosa
d.Ravi,Idli
| ans.a.Vinay,Idli Previous Season:
CAT '07 -94.8%ile
XAT '08 -98.2%ile (only XIMB call ) This Season:
IIFT 2008 - 24.xx (no call)
