So guys please post all that you want the session to be like. Please. This wud mighty help. | ok my turn..
i would like the session to cover the following points atleast
1.with just < 4 months for CAT what are the Do's and Dont's wrt to preps?
2.three most important things(which will make us(chennai DT and Chennai PG) stand out from the rest of the CAT junta.im selfish here ) we need to follow in the last and most important phase of preps i mean last 1 month say oct 15th to nov 15th..
3.would like the session to be more interactive meaning like communication going two way and yeah 100 % two way else im sure most of us would doze off..they asking us qn's and we answering them to some extent..of course not formulae and stuff and the mock scores ..lets not take this as a timepass PG meet and lets inject some seriousness into this session
4.share their exprerience abt CAT and other entrances..experience can be anything..they are faculties and have been students and aspirants as well once upon a time..so something which they can share or went through all those 3 phases.
as of now this is all that is striking my mind..maybe after breakfast my brain will start working better
will edit my post as i get points.. @nishanth
machan make a note of the points by all of us in a word file so that we can collate it and see later on before the session to make sure we dont miss out a single question.. @all
pls start posting abt wat u expect for the session as nishanth said so that we dont end up in going there and blinking and running short of questions..it would result in waste of time for us and them..so pls post!

Its my turn to post my qns nw..
I havent cleared VA/RC in the mock cats...wat to do for this...Was following all the VA strategies but somehow its missing from my side...Even if that section was weak i was choosing it as first in mock bcoz if i did QA and DI first, i will be exhausted at the end and that minimum mark am getting when iam attempting VA first also am not getting in this case(QA-DI-VA)...Is it ok to continue with this approach..or go for some other section first..
It may sound selfish ..
My project is getting heavier day by day..and the release date was set in november third week...so next three months will be heavy work though in deciding the work itself my cmpany taking long time...nw itself am started to be in the office around 9.30 hrs...if this is the situation shall i take one month leave on october or september...or take 2 to 5 days leave for every month...
Is it practically possible for us to take one month leave and continuously (with concentation)work on our strategy or we can take leave for sme 3 days and go to office for 10 days to refresh and another 3 days leave...of course weekends are all free..no office work as i intimated to my PM i wont cme in weekend at any cost...of course i have lot of leaves pending on my side.. | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to ramaan For This Useful Post:

I would love many more such "looking-forward-to" comments. A list of "Haves" and "Have-Nots" would be amazing. And yes Ravi I am collating all these points of u guys so that I can mail them across to the faculty there.
And one more thing. They were very happy that we have some great brains coming for the session and have promised that in case u guys like it we can have a weekly session with them on guiding us throughout this season so that they and we, both, ensure that we reach those hallowed portals | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to nishant_rungta For This Useful Post:

My questions:
1) How to crack DI? Not that I'm weak in this section, but somehow, more often that not, I royally mess up in DI. When I analyse the mock at home, I almost always get 5/5 right in DI caselet, but I don't solve the caselet when it matters.
2) As for Quants, this is my strategy: First I solve all the easy questions in a page, then move on to the tough ones. Regardless of whether I read all the questions in a page or not, i don't spend more than 10 min in a page and move on to the next one. This strategy has worked fine with me so far. But I doubt whether this strategy would work in a difficult quant paper, where I wouldn't have spent sufficient time for a difficult question, but spent some time for all the question. Get the drift?
3) For VA, my only strategy is to maximize the attempts as much as realistically possible in 45 mins. Is it ok?

All right..
I would like the session to cover the following points
1) Strategy to be adopted so that the number of attempts and OA score can be maximized. For example, if someone is pathetic at VA, then what would the ideal strategy be, so that he can attain a good OA score and clear cut-off in VA as well.
2) How to go about the QA and DI sections of CAT, as I suck big time when it comes to both these sections.
3) What should be the preparation strategy for working people, who spend 12-14 hours in office or travel everyday. I am one of those and I don't get to open books on weekdays as I am very tired
I am looking for some good strategies and tips from the session. Anything else I can think of, I will post later.

Hi everyone,
Its long since I've posted in this thread. Was busy at office.
Could not take the last two AIMCATs also.
My suggestions or for that matter my concerns for the CL meet are how to go about reasoning based DI and the preperation part of it as well because that has been my nemesis all along.
The quant concepts by the skipper are too good.Id well thank him for that.
I've also come across fabio's and getintoiimb's posts on "All I wanted to speak about CAT" thread. Its amazing seeing people braving such odds and are still after CAT.Hats off to you guys. | | | | | The Following 4 Users Say Thank You to chasincat For This Useful Post:

any shortcuts to solve this type of problem???? | The Soltn set now covers the following:
a+b+c+d=0(or)a+b+c+d=1(or)a+b+c+d=2.....(or)a+b+c+ d=11

And you HAVE to add all these up....
I am not aware of ne more "short-cuts" for these kinda qstns....
Others, do chip in if you have any more ways of approaching this problem.

hence we can look fwd to help each other...
i think the q's with inequality are done by adding one variable...
a+b+c+d<=11..
then we can add one more variable e...
such tht
a+b+c+d+e=11
now e can tk ny value from 0,11 and hence cover all the poss...
is tht right? sm time since i solved these nd hence hv become rusty...
ny suggestions?
again sorry for rudly posting...nd i hv not read the whole thread...if this has been discussed or out of context...sincere apologies...
