Re: PG Premier League - Chennai Dream Team - 31-08-2008, 10:10 PM

interesting paper 0909. i was cursing it while writing, but i guess the venue was toooo crowded this time. kept elbowing the poor soul next to me cuz there was no place.

di was as usual at a whole new level, but ppl have either cracked it and got really high scores of 30 plus or they have lost out big time. the first set (like Nishant figured :P ) was doable, but the Mandi set led me to lose time

va was tough. all 3 passages were lengthy and questions were obtuse. and a second paper in a row with upstream downstream arguments. the feminist passage did not help

i found qa tough too, but i cant really comment on that section

anyway my scores:
qa: 18 (C: 5 W: 2)
di: 19 (C: 5 W: 1)
va: 32 (C: 9, W: 4)
OA: 69

TIME has surprisingly predicted low cutoffs this time. but scores in each section seem really skewed from what i see in the 0909 thread.

how come the regular junta hasnt posted?

Re: PG Premier League - Chennai Dream Team - 31-08-2008, 10:37 PM

Well An absolutely funny day for me today. Was totally uncalled for. I got a bit carried away I guess and the season is taking its toll on me and my preps I'm gonna take a well-deserved break from the mocks and cat preps now. Let me figure it out.

Gave SimSNAP at 10 in the morning and then the aimcat at 2 in the afternoon. Don't really know what prompted me to take this whacky decision and go for 2 mocks in a day U know what the result would be

Anyways, my SImSNAP Scores:

Analytical and Logical Reasoning: 44.5/60
GK - 9.75/40
QA and DI - 27.25/40
VA - 25.75/40

OA - 107.25

Shoud touch the high 98s or prolly 99s this time

Aimcat 0909 scores:

QA - 18
DI - 18
VA - -3 (Yes u read it right)

OA - 33

Attempted the paper in the above order Was sleeping by the time I reached VA The guy next to me was considerate enough to wake me up saying we're still on with the mock. Oh yeahhhh?

Signing off on a very disheartened note,

Nishant

A mess made in 909. Hav'nt corrected yet.. but confident of VA & QA. Lost big time in DI. Only 3 attempts. Just cold'nt sit thru the paper.
After some introspection, am convinced taking mock on sat and another on sun won't do good for me. Too little time between mocks (Nishanth : 2 mocks in 6hrs!!!). Know many of you guys can cope, but im not fine with it yet. Plus some unexpected work drained me this morning. Should have skipped the mock. DI usually gets affected if I dont get sufficient rest before a mock.
@Not an elusive lady : Awesome scores in cl mock 5. More imp, superb balance of performance. And great scores in 909 too.

909 scores -
QA 4R, 1W, 15
DI+LR 1R, 2W, 1
VA 9R, 5W, 31
OA 47

Re: PG Premier League - Chennai Dream Team - 01-09-2008, 08:19 AM

Pathetic to say the least (This is the first time I am using the word pathetic to describe my mck performance)

Went with some aggression and a good strategy to crack it after getting clean bowled in 0910...
In the same 20-20 paper last yr, I hit my highest in the 2007 mock season (97.xx percentile) so the energy was high when I started..

But the sweaty conditions (There was no power in my test center) and the lunch I had started half an hr back, started takin their toll and 1 hr into the test..I lost all my energy and concentration n started looking around..(after a couple of mins I once again started solving the paper as the no of gals in my room was less)

Forgot all the strategies and got struck in a DI set..finally screwed it royally and didnt find time to read a DI set
Had a decent outing with QA but could have got atleast 10 marks more on any given day in this paper
VA as usual..accuracy took a hit as I took this towards the end and was in no mood to read the RCs

Ended up with

QA - 14
VA - 10
DI - -1 (yeah its i^2)

Guess this mock ll be a wake up call for many and as Ravi said..time to shift gears and struggle hard for the next 2.5 months to either complete or perish

well this is what ive been stressing ppl from before..taking 2 to 3 mocks in a span of 3 days will tire u out literally..physically and mentally..as i said last yr i used to take SIMCAT's on sundays and AIMCAT's on mondays..whenever i used to do this i use to screw up the AIMCAT..
when i took the AIMCAT alone on sunday(when there was no SIMCAT) i used to clear 2/3 cut offs..only the last few AIMCATs i managed to do this(cos IMS had only 8 SIMCAT's last yr)..so the key is not to take as many mocks as possible now..its what u leanr from each mock..reserve some steam for the last 1 month before CAT ..if u keep taking mocks at tis rate ul feel "what the heck am done..let me chill"..so at the end ul end up in chilling out the last 1 month which is the most important phase..so something which i would suggest is jus analyse a mock and then take prev aimcats/simcats and solve them as timed section tests..i will be follwing
the schedule as below..interested guys can follow it if u feel its worth it..

1)from today to sep 15th - solve old aimcats/simcats 1 section per day(qa,di or va) without time limits..im already doing this..like mon and tue QA,wed and thurs DI,fri and sat VA..sunday take the AIMCAT/SIMCAT..but dont forget to anaylse ur mock as well..analyse 1 section per day..
2)from sep 15th to oct 15th..do the old aimcats/simcats 1 section per day with time limits..set 50 mins/45 mins depending on ur comfort level in that section and see how u far..im sure ul atleast have a rough idea of the cut off after u solve the paper..
3)from oct 15th to nov 9th..do mocks(new/old) with time limits..2.5 hrs flat!i suggest we will get those MCT's/CRT's from TIME/IMS now..preserve that for the last 3 weeks and make use of it..take them at home..u can even solve those 2004 AIMCAT series..all of those are 150 qns types..3 section with 50 in each..jus make sure u are in touch with every qn paper pattern..in case we get a 150 qn paper in CAT(which is highly improbable) but to be safe do it!
4)from nov 9th to nov 15th - Chill maadi
dont do anything silly which will tire u out..go to office..jus read through the formulae and brush up some basic concepts..dont watch programmes on cnn-ibn !they really tensed me out last time..i rem that programme the night before CAT,i was looking at it and literally shivering
so last 1 week stay away from TV and all hype related stuff to CAT..
on nov 15th go for a movie..Quantum of solace(007) is releasing
go for it..have a nice sleep and smash CAT on 16th ..

Supporter of Chennai dream team ......

Hii puys,

Wrote the SimSNAP..it was a very easy paper

though i messed it up a big time i dont know how i lacked the accuracy in such a easy paper

The guys who will crack the GK section will managed to sail through and I screwed up that section totally

My scores are as under:

Analytical and Logical Reasoning: 31.5
GK - 5.5
QA and DI - 23
VA - 19.75

OA - 79.75

cut offs close to 80...

Have to add these three magic letters to my name and that too this year.

Getintoiimb

Man u really resolved my maiximum queries what to do what not to do at this point of time..

surely the schedule as planned or chalked out by u is helpful and motivating ...
atleast for me needs lots of gyaan from u experienced people ..

a little doubt from me
i have finished evrything in QA apart from TSD and P&C and Proability i know its illy but what to do some office work and other stufff refrain me from doing this
but some i keep on clearing sectional cutoffs in QA easily so thats why also i ignored these section ......

what is ur suggestion like latest by what time i can afford to finish it out and began anaylse the mock

Please please ...............help me out ........

@shivam_01
my suggestion to you will be is not to leave TSD!!
its a very important topic when it comes to CAT and other exams..so if u cover this u can easily crack qns realted to those..u can leave out P&C and probability provided u covered the other topics..but TSD is must..it hardly takes 1 week to finish it..there is no AIMCAT on sep 14th..instead there is AIMIIFT on 14th..so use that weekend to finish off TSD..but if u feel confident enough that u can still clear cut offs without TSD then i leave it to you !

I'd agree with Ravi. I guess one should have a basic understanding at least of all the topics. For instance, a sitter of a TSD question definately cannot be left out in CAT. Especially considering the fact that TSD is nothing but a little bit of logic and basic division and multiplication.

Just a suggestion, though! The final call is yours

@Elusive, Grim - Awesome CL scores!

@Rungta - Top notch score in the mock SNAP! Hope you translate the performance into the AIMCATS!
