Re: [PG Premier League-Bangalore Team]Heroes of the IIMB soil - 02-10-2008, 01:29 PM

Well, thanks to the holiday today, I was able to complete analysis of the paper and look at my AIMCAT 0906 scores. Here they are:
QA (5R 0W) x 2 + (6R 2W) x 4
Score = 32/100 Percentile = 96.60

DI (5R 1W) x 2 + (7R 1W) x 4
Score = 36.5/100 Percentile = 95.45

VA/RC (7R 0W) x 2 + (11R 3W) x 4
Score = 55/100 Percentile = 99.63

Overall (41R 7W)
Score = 123.5 Percentile = 99.74.

To add to that, I would be attending a time counseling session this weekend. Hopefully, they will have some good inputs on how to maximise efforts and results in the few weeks that are left.
Will post their advice and suggestions here, maybe we can come up with an appropriate strategy to prepare for each one of us. I hope that would benefit all the teamers as well!

known to Amrita.Each pair that does not include Amrita or Satyam has exactly
2 common friends.Also,Satyam knows everyone except Amrita.If only
2 friends can dance at a time,how many dance numbers will be there at the
party?
a)3n − 7 b)2n + 5 c)4n − 3 d)none of these.
answer acc to me is 3n-7.

My approach :::

satyam is not known to amrita nor amrita to satyam and rest all frnds know satyam and amrita....
Also each pair has 2 common friends,therefore those 2 common friends are satyam and amrita....

consider a pair of friends X and Y and their common friends i.e satyam and amrita....so total people in the party is n= 4.....now only 2 friends can dance at a time...so both the friends will dance with both the common frnds and once together.....

combinations :::

satyam with X
satyam with Y
amrita with X
amrita with Y
X with Y

so total no of dance nos. possible=5
when n=4. dance nos.=5

only 3n-7 satisfies the condition.....

Have to add these three magic letters to my name and that too this year.

That should do the trick..... but is there any other method other than substituting values for 'n'... The answer is fairly obvious here, but what if one of the alternatives happens to be 'none of these'....

In short is there a way to solve it rather than work around it..??

I think this problem needs more clarification regarding who knows who. The final answer will depend on following and maybe more criteria which I may have missed.
Do all friends of a common person know each other compulsarily?
Do friends of friends know Amrita compulsarily?
Can two friends of Amrita have as a common friend some other friend than Amrita?

This a potential graph problem (consider people as points where friends are joined by an edge) and various graphs could be constructed depending on answers to above questions. We will need to count the number of edges but drawing of the edges brings up the above-mentioned and maybe more questions.

Kya ho gaya dost? If it's issues with strategy/preparation, I'm sure two (or more) heads are better than one. Maybe some of us fellow teamers can help make things better!

Ho jaayega yaar........chillax.........but I must tell u smthing.........for heaven's sake, please concentrate on clearing VA cut off..........C-Day will be the easiest for u then.........Some tips......may be useful.....

1: try to infuse some logic into VA questions.........Try to find out and remove answers which u are sure are not correct first......

2: In RC, always follow the following strategy...........read the passage a bit.........then look and keep a mental image of the questions..........then read the rest of the passage and then go about doing the questions........works like magic.........

3: Avoid FIJs and UDLI questions..........They rob marks.............

4: While trying to read the passages or questions, cover both ur ears for better concentration..........believe me.........it works........

5: Dont always try to hurry thru the VA section just to improve attempts.........it will backfire most of the time..........speed is essential but not a sole requisite.

hope this helps......and dont be so low dude.........cheer up .............hum tumhare saath hain........
