Question Asia - Graduate School of Business - 11-06-2008, 02:23 AM

Hello Puys,
I tried searching for information on this new insti but I think no one really knows about it yet.
:: Welcome to Asia Graduate School of Business ::

If any one of you has any info and is planning to apply here then do post in here, we could further discuss the pros and cons of the institute.

Please check the file for more details on the same.

The progs offered by this insti are as below:

1-year Post Graduate Programme in Management(PGPM)
This is a one year full time Post Graduate Programme in Management for senior managers. This programme is developed in association with Fisher College of Business, (FCOB) Ohio State University, Columbus, USA and Tianjin Polytechnic University (TJPU), China. This program has 9 week Summer School in China PRC arranged by our collaborator –Tianjin Polytechnic University, as an important feature of the program, as well as a module on China to be taught by Chinese Professors in Hyderabad. The six week China Internship carries 6 credits as two courses are taught in China.

This programme is fully residential.
Fisher College of Business is among the top 30 business schools in the nation both at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Also Fisher is ranked ninth among public institutions and maintained a top 10 positions in Supply Chain/Logistics in the 2009 U.S.News&World Report ranking of top MBA program's business school specialties.

Tianjin Polytechnic University is known as the MIT of China! This is one of the top most Universities in China.
The PGPM will be certified by Asia GSB, FCOB and TJPU.

As the course is intensive, it is offered only to senior managers with 3 years experience or equivalent PG and professional qualifications plus experience. For details please see eligibility creteria in Admissions page.

2 - Year India/China Post Graduate Programme in Asian Management (PGPAM)
This has been designed as a world’s first program of its kind, linking China and India, the future number one and two economies of the world. This programme is offered jointly in association with Tianjin Polytechnic University, China PRC.
This program has the same academic calendar in India and China and is designed to have the students spend first academic year in India, and the second academic year in China. Similarly the Chinese students spend the first academic year in China and the second academic year in India. All students pay home tuition. That is, Indian students will pay both years tuition as per Asia GSB tuition plan and will only have to bear cost of air travel, residential and food costs and health insurance while in China. Similarly TJPU students will pay their own tuition and will bear their living costs and air travel when they come to India. The course is fully residential.
The PGPM will be certified by Asia GSB and TJPU.

Regards,
Payal

Ya I have also been trying to get some details of this Chinese insti.
The city is the 3rd largest right after Beijing n Shanghai in terms of development and a lot of other things, you can read the details on wikipedia.
The thing that really interests me in this course are the subjects in the 2nd year. Do check that out on the website.

Regards,
Payal

This institute is one of the choices i have as it seems to be inline with ISB offering. Not sure whether it will hit the bull's eye. I am sure the content would be great as good schools joining together and offering the program.

I am serious on joining this school. May be risky as it is new, but confident as it is from ITM group.

Re: Asia - Graduate School of Business - 13-06-2008, 12:13 AM

Comparing this with ISB is kinda way too much.

Didja read this line on the website:
"The MOU extends to teaching by two professors from TJPU the Asian perspective in general and Chinese perspective in specific at the Asia

GSB campus"

Only 2 profs. from TJPU will be teaching the 2nd part thats what I understand from this, what do you think ?

And I had mailed em yday as I was not able to dl the application form from the website.
I got this reply:

Dear Payal
The application can now be downloaded. Pl try.
There are no specified cut off for GMAT / CAT. These scores are part of the input for processing of the application.
The processes of inducting faculty is in progress. Shortly these would be uploaded as desired.

Re: Asia - Graduate School of Business - 20-06-2008, 03:20 PM

Visited this site a few days back and found some questionable points:

1.The Faculty has not been selected yet. (Except for the faculties from the other alliance collges with which the institute has tied up)
2.Being a new school on the block, the fees are exorbitantly high, 9 lacs +
3. Not a single line has been written about place ment

I will take a wait and watch stance about this college.

Hello All,

I had been to the Asia GSB administration office over the week end, here are some questions that I discussed with the Director of the Asia GSB:
1. What is the Faculty that we ca look forward to?
Ans:
[Permanenet faculty]: It would be best in the lot. would get selected from premier institutes in India. Till now only one prof from a top Bschool has accepted the offer. By another three months they would finish up the Faculty hirings
[Visiting Faculty]: would be enagged from the colleges which are in collaboration with Asia GSB.

2. Hows the profile of people who have shown interest in the course till now?
Ans:
The average experience of people who have shown interest till now is around 6-7 years on various fields ranging from IT, Pharma FMCG etc.

3. What kind of placement / profile we should look forward to?
Ans:
The answer is the same as written on website.
[Nothing concrete as such.]

4. what would be the course structure like?
Ans:
They showed me the planned course structure which starts from last week of April 2009 and the details should be available on website soon.

5. total fees?
Ans: 11 lacs (approx) inclusive of china trip .

I am still very sceptical regarding the faculty, and unless that doesnot get published I personally cannot take any decision on the same.
