1. Q3.. If x,y,z are single digit whole nos, for how many ordered triplets (x,y,z) is the number x246y8189z divisible by 8,9 and 11?
The solns state that x+y+8 = 9 or 18. the reason being the max value of x+y+z=26. where are we getting this from? |
for the no to be div by 8, last 3 digits hv to be div by 8. So, z=6
for the no to be div by 9, sum of digits(=x+y+z+3

hv to be div by 9.
putting z=6, sum = x+y+44 = x+y+8 (+36 ->div by 9)
max value of x,y,z each can be 9 as they are single digit whole nos.
so, x+y+8 = 9 or 18 (next multiple of 9 is 27. this cannot be achieved as x,y can take max value=9)
hope its clear
if not, plz do write back.
