go for AIMCAT( TIME), also try your hand at Mockcat(CL) if you can.
if you still find time then you can go for SIMCATS (IMS).
what i found best about time is there LR/DI sections. it notch ahead of others and closest to CAT. there VA and QA are also very good.
CL's QA section is best.
only not-so-impressive thing about TIME is that, they do not conduct their test in exact CAT like situation at least in MUMBAI, IMS is closest to CAT in this regard.

On coming Sunday there is a free Mock CAT by TIME. your good performance in this test can save your few bucks while enrolling for TIME's AIMCAT. CL's MOCKCAT starts in AUGUST. Same for IMS. But things might change this year so keep visiting there respective website for latest updates.

Re: Which Test-Series to choose?? - 16-05-2008, 08:53 PM

My views based on my experience:
TIME-the no of test takers was abt 27-28k last yr.The difficult level is a notch above CAT but quite close to it.
IMS-The no of test takers was abt 21k last yr.Mocks were closest to CAT in terms of difficulty level be it any section.
CL-had about 15k tst takers.Difficulty level very very high.May end up demoralising you.

I took all 3 last yr and I would advise you choose between TIME/IMS.

My personal experience was with CL and IMS. The post-test analysis of the CL mocks was exemplary, telling you the exact areas in which you performed well..and the ones where you didn't. This helped me a lot in the run-up to the big test, by which time I knew exactly the type of questions which could be bad for me!!
IMS on the other hand, did not offer any substantial help after the mock, which is the time when I feel help is most needed.
My vote goes to CL

i would suggest that don't go for ims and time together as the papers of both the institutes are quite similar whatever may be the reason. So go for either time or ims and another test series with CF or CL that would give you a fair idea of different kind of faculty setting papers. Just have a look at papers of other institutes as well. Regarding the post paper analysis it is you who is going to do most of the analysis so it does not matter much. Just go in for variety that is my personal opinion.

Re: Which Test-Series to choose?? - 16-05-2008, 09:54 PM

Time has 20 mockcats and Ims 8 Sim-cats(and more than 20 take home tests)
So if u take the first free Aim-cat then even if ur performance is bad they will give you near to 1k discount..(I had a rank of AIR:162 or so and 99.6+%ntile and dey gave me a discount of 2/3rd of fee) So do take time free mock-test.

Its better to take the test of the both the institutes as their approach is varied...

Time has a really tough DI,tougher than cat, while IMS the level of the toughness is similar to cat.. So u can be prepared for a normal and a very tough paper(who knws hw tough next year will be..) Also there will be a clash on only maximum 8 sundays,so even if u miss the test,u can take it someother time..)

Personally in my 3years of CAT preparation(05,06,07) i din find CL tests to be so usefull as Time or IMS test...this is a personal opinion..we can happily differ on that

Its better to take the tests of 2 institutes, the maximum u gonna lose is a coupla thousands, but its well worth it....

If you are enrolling only for one, atleast make sure to get the tests of other institutes from your friends and try the papers at home..

Re: Which Test-Series to choose?? - 16-05-2008, 10:30 PM

hi guys
i would be taking the test series of time this year.Iam very keen to write ims simcats as well. But what worries me is the inflexible timing by ims and my odd office timing as well which can be well adjusted when i write the time test. What i would like to know is ! Does IMS here in delhi give simcats as take away?( like i dont have to write the test at their center and instead take away the paper home from their office after each test is conducted )
