Re: IMI Delhi-Batch of 2010 - 30-05-2008, 07:17 PM

Just found some useful stuff from the orkut community regarding the various committees at IMI..... Posted by Ritesh

Quote:
Selection followed by Election.

You will be interviewed by Students as well as faculty depends on which committee you wanna join.

If its Placecom, be ready to go thru' rounds of interaction (that's how managers spell "Mental Butchering") by seniors. Faculty plays no role as we have made it completely autonomous body with faculty playing advisory role only. - Non performers will be thrown out at the end of the first term and if the need be, new one would come in. The best must go for this as their intellect is not worthy of settling for anything less. Be ready to do extremely hard work but you will bear the fruits, even at individual level, even after you have passed out of IMI.

Mktg / Fin / HR clubs have the interviews, tough ones, may or may not be followed by election. These guys do lotsa things - Mktg, Fin, HR summits, Inter Bschool competition many times in a year and intra IMI competitions. These are the committees responsible for building the desired culture.

Alumni Committee is the most inactive, ineffective committee on campus. Though my batch did something and juniors are trying their best, its still not at par with the best of the institute in the country. New ideas must flow in to tap into highly resourceful Alumni. Only selection for this by interviews.

Cultural Committee - I have seen them being mostly involved with organising parties and annual fest Kritva. Juniors Cul Secs did a commendable job in Krtiva this year, amazing success!! But, I personally believe, much more can be done.

Media Cell - usually responsible for any formal interaction with outside world, be it other Bschools or publishing placement report or ensuring visibility on forums like Pagalguy etc. Need a really active person to work for it. It was started by 2006 batch and dropped and renewed by 2008 batch. Its working very well now.

Admission committee - was proposed and started by yours truely with the help of registrar, Kathuria Sir but didn't achieve in the first year all its goals. However, things are improving fast with juniors putting in lotsa efforts.

Culsec usually form Krtiva organizing committee which is function for those 2 months with extensive help from Mktg, Fin & HR clubs. Everyone comes forward to contribute and this is like a celebration of 3 days on campus!

Movie club - very active and show very good movies. I was fan of this club and members of this club worked really hard watching and testing all movies On a serious note, they really did and they also designed and published the yearbook!

System Club - not quite productive, though became lil bit of active from our batch on. This club, if fully active, can provide an amazing IT support to all other clubs in order to improve the quality of events that other clubs do.

What we don't have!!

Consulting Club - Many campus have it and they do something sort of Consulting Conclave as consulting companies, nowadays, are recruiting big time from Non-IIMs campuses. Guys, you gotta work something out on this front to catch up with the trend.

Ktriva, annual mgmt fest, needs to be upgraded in terms of quality if we intend to catch up with the best in the league. Though we are already better than many in the league.

Quiz Club - Though couple of people created it, its completely inactive and I believe this is extremely important club to join and work for if you wanna keep abrest with latest happening in the Biz world, which you must!

Well, these clubs are usually for you and BY you, so its totally upto you guys as how you wanna see your campus, not just during your stint with IMI, but even after years!

ATB!

Re: IMI Delhi-Batch of 2010 - 30-05-2008, 07:20 PM

Another one by Ritesh.... this time citing the requirements for getting into the Placement Committee, which seems to be majority's favoured one

Quote:
Looks like Placecom would win hands down as a preferred choice of Junta.

Hey people, just curious to know as how many of you
- read newspapers,magazines etc.
- follow market closely as what is happening out there
- know how are the placements in other campus viz. IMI - profiles, packages, where we are lacking and where we are better and where we are competitive
- have interacted with few HR people already and discussed as how they choose an institute to recruit from

There are many more to it. This is just a broad guidline to sensitize you guys and to make you aware that Placecom is certainly not for fun and you will be damnnd for each ounce of hardwork you put in.

Not only hardworker will get in there, smartness alone is useless, knolwedge and communication skill is quintessential and people skill will help you survive there - combo of these all is what you need the list to arrive there.

Let the best people from you batch be there for each one of you want the best placements. If you ever think that the other person is better than me, let him/her be there if you want a better placement.

Straight from an eventful experience of 2yrs in Placecom

Ritesh

1. Hostel is full, as per IMI. But I think there'll be a few cancellations from people who wish to stay in a separate flat, so you can stay positive. You can also mail an application to them citing that you want hostel accommodation

2. No dress code at IMI.... Casuals allowed except on guest lectures and placement week, where we have to wear formals

3. Docs required should be the offer letter, the receipt of the 1st installment. Don't think anything else is required if you're not taking up hostel. If you are, then you'll be required to produce the hostel letter as well

Re: IMI Delhi-Batch of 2010 - 06-06-2008, 12:23 AM

Hi,
I had three questions about the practicalities of hostel life....Seniors please help... (excuse me if they have already been asked elsewhere)

1) I read that the beds are provided but the mattresses have to be bought....so, does some mattress supplier come to the hostel and give us a bulk stock? (if so, approximately howmany days after the joining date would this person come?) Or do we have to go buy them ourselves, and if so, from where do we buy them...any nearby market? And also, the 1st few days (until we get our own) is it possible to use our hostel predecessors mattress?

2) I heard theres an almirah/cupboard provided in every room..so does this almirah have a safe kind of place to keep our valuables n money?

3)which would be the nesrest metro station from IMI?

thanks in advance,
Manaswita...
