No ragging huh! Phew... am safe!

Regarding the laptop...Is this 3 year on-site warranty a must? Usually they come with 1-yr support! Am planning to buy a dell xps 1330 with the basic config as posted on the dell india website!
A 13.3 inch monitor should suffice right?

In the letter, they've asked us to fill up the laptop procurement form and send it to them along with the second instalment. Now, after we send it, do we still have the option to cancel our order in case we're not ok with the config/brand etc... or is it compulsory to buy it?
They should atleast mention the model number/brand & the price beforehand.

dude
dell xps series rocks
its probably the best option
cause i think wat the tapmi letter says is a laptop wit some ancient config that is wifi enabled
so seriously go for the xps
and i think u will have to wait till sometime after the course starts to recieve the laptop
so there u have it in a nutshell
am thinking bout gettin the xps as well

Hello! will you be joining tapmi for sure? Yeah! I really liked the model..
Will be buying it mostly. I'll probably have to pay extra to extend the warranty period by 2 years. I'm wondering if I MUST do that or can i do without it. Dell gives a 1-year complete cover by default.

I have enquired abt it to the Admission Committee.. They informed me that they have already dispatched the letter and that i should wait for a day or two. If I dont receive the same then they will mail me the soft copy of the offer letter...

Cheers ,

The good thing about TAPMI is that all the correspondence is sent via courier, rather than speed post/registered post. So, i believe its just a matter of time before your letter arrives at your doorstep. Keep the DD for 50K ready :-)

Hi all,

First of all congo to have selected. Enjoy ur stay at TAPMI . As for laptops, usually TAPMI does not take the initiative for bulk buying. It is the first time out here they are doing it.

So no idea what is in the minds of the management. Better ask them about it.

thanks and regards

You can choose to NOT avail of the order in case you aren't OK with the configuration. Once you send the filled form across, the institute will send you a communication on the cost of the laptop and it's configuration by June 20th. You need to pay the requisite amount by July 5th. If you do not pay the amount for whatever reason, your laptop procurement request stands cancelled. This is mentioned in Annexure 5 (Laptop Procurement request) of the offer letter.

so that means after u order a laptop thru the instituition... its still upto u to take it or not
ie if u dont cough up u forfeit the offer else if u like it u get to take the laptop right??
