1 yr accidental coverage
Audigy sound blaster

This should come to around 41 k....!!!
Kinda agree with varun. We should compromise on a few things and get the essential things inside the deal.My take

Processor T7250 - since its better than the t5750 or 5550
RAM 2GB - i really think 3 gb is not required
HDD 160 - more than enough. we can always have an external hdd for our other rqmts
Partitioned drives - like this option should be there
Accidental coverage - for safety
Anti virus - At least a 15 month one rather than the 30 days free trial version
Back pack - more handy than the carry case.We can omit it all together and go ahead buy
our own backpacks
MS office - Lets face it this is the only important software we gonna need . takes care of
ppt, excel, word.

So if we give up on a few things and take up whts essential we would get our desired config...and at a good price too.

it is true...i called up DELL...from monday the prices would go up by 10-13%....so we need to hurry

the DELL sales guy said he is also working on sunday....we have to place our order and make the payment before sunday

The procedure for placing the order to this b'lore DELL sales guy would be sending a mail to
1. Kamlesh_Dhariwal@dell.com and CC to me (thiru.prabakaran@gmail.com)
2. the subject of the mail should be 'Laptop order : bulk deal - Thiru'
3. Kindly mention the model name 1525/1420
4. the processor name T5550/T7250/T5750
5. whether u need laptop case/backpack/ neither of the two
6. whether or not you want the 1 yr coverage for accidental breakage
protection
7. the mode in which you would make the payment (DDs should reach him
before sunday as this is not possible we are left with only Credit cards for payment)
8. your cell phone number.

Hello friends,

An important update on laptop.

I am attachin herewith the quotation i have received of DELL inspiron 1420 having the same configeration as that of 1525 (higher configeration)

1. The 1420 comes with a processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T7250
2.0GHz, 2MB Cache, 800 MHz FSB whereas 1525 come with a processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo Processor T5750 2.0 GHz, 2MB Cache, 667 MHz FSB

1. The difference between weight of 1420 & 1525 is 280 grams.

2. and u wil really b surprised with the price.

I request each of u to study these quotations carefully before coming to any consensus.

cheers
Sachin

dude, MS Word costs 5 k extra...!!!!

PC prices rise 13%, blame it on Re fall Harsimran Singh NEW DELHI

IF YOU were thinking of buying that sleek laptop but still did not take the plunge, the delay is going to prove costly. All PC and laptop vendors have hiked their prices by 7-13% from this week citing the recent appreciation of dollar versus the rupee.

While major laptop makers like HP, HCL and Zenith have already hiked prices, others like Lenovo and Dell may follow suit. The hike follows depreciation of rupee against dollar in the past three months. The rupee has depreciated by almost 10% in the last three months. It was trading at Rs 39.90 to a dollar on March 31, 2008, but has appreciated to Rs 42.80 per dollar.

HP India has effected a price rise of up to 13% on many products across Pavillion and Compaq Presario ranges. “We are increasing laptop prices in the range of 13%. The primary reason for this hike is dollar appreciation coupled with price hike for some components. We will be increasing the prices with immediate effect and over the next few days the hike will be extended to the entire notebook range,” said Rajiev Grover, director in charge of consumer products, personal systems group at HP India. HP’s Compaq is a leader in the notebook category in India in terms of units sold. Hike in the prices of other HP computers is expected in the next 4-6 days. HCL has also effected an across the board price hike. “We have effected a general price rise of 5% to 7% across all laptops and desktops. This is because of the rupee moving from Rs 39 against the dollar to Rs 43 at present. But we expect no immediate impact on the market as yet,” says George Paul, executive V-P at HCL Infosystems.

The dip in the rupee has made components which go into a laptop or PC costlier. No vendor wants to absorb increase in costs.

there is no giving up of certain things....the 3GB RAM and 250 GB HD which comes with the T5750 processor is an offer...its free.....if u reduce it to 2GB and 160GB then u break the offer and hence u get the on offer model which would be even more costly....
