The config seems pretty fine (Even the 2GB memory for me atleast).... just one issue, Can't we have Inspiron 1420 instead, coz 15" inch screen wud be too heavy to carry, portability is much better in 14 and 13 inch screens...

Hello mates,

I have got the fquotations for Inspiron 1420 and 1525 from DELL, Banglore where they actually manufacture the laptops.

I want to bring ur attention to the following but first of all u must see the quotations..

1. The prices offered are inclusive of taxes (CVD) & delivery charges.

2. They are not charging 4% VAT on the basic price.(consider it as a discount). This offer wil expire soon.

3. The prices are for the non octroi region in india.(In entire India, only some part of maharashtra are a octroi region as informed by DELL sales person. e.g. Navi Mumbai is not a octroi region hence we wil not have to pay for octroi)

4. There is no further discount even if we go for a bulk deal as there are the prices ex-plant.

5. For any further information u can call on toll free no. 1800 425 4001/4026/8044.

6. Make ur comments on this and take action as soon aspossible as the prices are going to increase soon (as informed by DELL sales person) by atleast 2% to 5%

I hope u wil find this info useful in finalizing.

cheers
Sachin

well all 3 quotations by sachin seem to be pretty good and since hes got em directly from the manufacturer i guess it would be a better deal than any agent can provide. ALso the 1525 config is pretty good and in line with what was being discussed a few posts back.So unless someone has a better deal for the sameconfigs i guess we can go in for this one.At least we have a final quotation to look.

In the meantime im waiting on the config details and price from varun and ankit which i guess they r gonna mail to all of us.

I like the 1525 advanced config, as it shall give us a good processor 2.0 GHz, and 3GB RAM....hence that should suffice our speed requirements..!!

As for Ankit's query, its a trade-off btwn entertainment/gaming and portability....some may prefer 15 inch for the entertainment viewing movies etc and other might go in for portability...!!

Has anyone seen a 1525..is it that bulky ?? Maybe I should take a look at it personally..!!

As a user of vista for a year, i can say that 1gb(which i have) is ok for most of the applications we usually do.2gb is excellent and will never fail u unless u wish to play the latest GTA with two other bulky games concurrently.

Cheers
