Well Im no finance whizkid..but DD's unlike cheques need not be worried upon as we already have paid the money...so its upon BIM to encash it whenever they want to..!!!

True varun,
but i have read of a case in W Bengal, where a DD(of 1+ crore) bounced and the bank contacted RBI to ensure that instruments like DDs dont bounce. Well, that away, when ppl have to cancel offers from other institutes, i think, its quite ok to take all the precautions, and this is one of them. thats it...
Thnx

Hi
Good to see the thread so live... But not a girl to be seen out here.... Hope they buck up and contribute to the thread...8-)
Wildo ,good to see that u r precautious , but sont worry BIM wont do tat to u ....
8-) Just kidding

Regarding change in Diro, its because his tenure of 5 years is over.. So they are recruiting a new diro... But there are still certain uncertainities regarding whether he will continue or a new diro will take his place.... So as of now it is still undecided... But i guess ul need not have to worry about tat... It wont affect ur admissions or college life in anyway 8-)

Cheers

Hi everyone:-),
i am in wait list at sc 6. The reservation of seats by svj who is one up in wait list has given of lot of hope that i will also clear the wait list. Hehe. I have a query regarding placements in bim ( though it is written in code of conduct that we should not keep in mind the placements.) i have heard that figures in bim placements are highly inflated and there is a lot differance between ctc and salary-in-hand. Is that true? Please provide of actual scenario.

Hi Badhan

Congratulations and welcome to the BIM thread...!

As svj123, I hope to see you too on campus..,as for your queries, I shall say below:

Figures are inflated : Well, this one can know only when you join the campus, coz even if its done ( which I dont believe ), no senior shall come on a public forum and admit it...!
Generally, placement figures are inflated everyplace, but BIM is a 25 year old prestigious institute, so I see no reason why they would inflate their figures as they dont need to prove anything unlike some new colleges that have started up..!

As to difference between CTC and salary-in-hand, I am assuming you are a fresher, coz in every industry ( apart frm BPO's), your take home is 60-75 % of ur CTC after the tax cuts...and this difference has to be negotiated by you with the company during the campus interviews....BIM has no role to play in it..!!

Let me know if you have any more queries..!!

Thanks varun for this fast reply. I have ex of ten months in hdfc bank. I am also looking to join banking after doing mba. What are prospects of banking recruitment in bim. Another query is that is students are free to opt whichever stream they want to join for mba? (like finance or hr etc). I have another call due from ubs, chandigarh. Do this school have recognition in south india as bim does not have much recognition in this part of the world.

No problem, buddy....

If you take a look at the BIM website/brochure, you shall see a list of banks, private as well as public ones.., offering good packages..!!

Yes, we have all the freedom to choose our major/minor specializations among finance, marketing, HR and systems..for more details, go through this complete thread..!

As for reputation, yes this college may not be well known in north, but its pretty much reputed in rest parts of the country....as for UBS Chandigarh, B-School comparisions are not allowed in PG threads...but I know a couple of BIMites who have chosen BIM over UBS Chandigarh and they are from Delhi.!

hold on mate!!!

if u see, we are sailing on the same boat...

so as informed by seniors, there are very good chances of clearing the WL for us...(generally upto 10)..

hence hope for the good as i m doing....

but i want to tell you that the WL entirely depends on the that year's students...hence it is quite unpredictable...

keep ur fingers crossed..and hope for the best...

hiya
