I have some queries regarding IMT-G as a college, as a brand .:nervous:
I have got a very bad feedback about IMT-G,
1. Many backdoor entries are there.:angry:
2. For freshers it does not provide much scope in terms of growth and job profile .:-?
3. Location wise IMT-G is not preferred by many companies.
4. In case of placements it is upon mercy of Mr Kamal Nath, He brings companies to the college else the college does not hold any promise.{we have general elections in 2009}
5. In industry also an IMT-G passout is not given that good a profile which IIM's or even an MDI passout would get.
6. All the placement figures are inflated.
gareebguy please address these issues coz its a matter of our careers.

Think man! Just don't go by people's views. Here are my views on your points -
1) Just trust the institute that it does everything fairly. That's all we can do at this point.
2) Don't think so. IMT-G in it's brochure has quoted an average domestic package of above 8 for freshers, which is fairly good. As for profiles, I think if freshers were given a raw deal the IMT-G would have been much lower and not at No 16 in the PG Rankings, as many of the voters would have been freshers.
3) Being close to the NCR region, I don't understand why companies won't prefer IMT-G.
4) I think Amit gave a satisfactory reply to this. If that had been the case, then nobody would have wanted to joi IMT-G. So do you think the college authorities would have wanted that?
5) Agreed, IIMs and MDI would probably get better profiles, that's why the demand for them is more. But IMT-G isn't far below them.
6) I don't think placement figures are wrong or anything. Sure they have included international figures while calculating their averages, but I have heard most colleges do that.
Although logically, I have refuted all your points, still it does rankle that IMT-G has such a bad reputation among people. Because just like I have heard about people, who have had success stories after passing out from IMT-G, I have also read about people saying quite a few bad things about the institute.
I personally feel that the people who are bad mouthing the institute are the ones who haven't been able to make full use of the institute and are now venting their anger at the institute, because unlike IIMs, I don't think IMT-G would be able to satisfy everybody. But those that can outshine the rest and take full use of the oppurtunities at IMT-G, it will be no less than an IIM for them.
