To add to that I am quite impressed by the IMT approach this year... they have given calls to ppl with even 95+ percentiles... One remarkable changes is that this year the selection is based more on profiles than mere CAT percentiles as was the case last year... quite a bit on the lines of international b-schools who give profiles more weightage than the GMAT scores.. All this orders well for the future of IMT... we can clearly see that there is an effort made to enhance batch quality in terms of diversity and work-ex... I feel there will be many more work-ex guys in IMT this year as compared to previous batches...

Hey why don't all IMT aspirants in Mumbai meet up before we actually head northwards?? People from other cities can also organize an informal gathering as well!

But again by gods grace i had got an admission into IMT FT.Still i am not able to celebrate properly because i did not recieve the admission letter from IMT. I know that it should be on its way but my confidence took such a beating in this one and half year that i have a very pessimistic attitude now. I told you all this because i just want you to think again abt the opportunity in hand. It feels great to be in great colleges like IIMs but for that to happen there are lot other things that need to fall in our path, some of which are not even in our control. For very few people its a fairy tale ending. I know so many people who have been vexed and gave up their hopes. Tomorrow we should not be left with a feeling tht we have wasted time and money for nothing. Sorry if it became a bhashan but my only advice is that you should just think again abt what you have.

well the perspective posted by puys above r definitely correct, but being a fresher many things play in ur mind and to b really very very frank me being a frsher dont know at all wich spln i'll b taking up...i do know y i need an mba...so thats y wt i post here is frm a fesher's point of view and many fresher puys wud agree with me...with wrk ex ppl they do hv a gud knowledge abot corpo culture and different splns..

I have got the admission letter today for IMT G - Fin..however they have not mentioned the program start date. I have anyhow given the resignation with last date as may end assuming session will start from June.

Do anyone got any information when the session is going to start?

u can get job in banking firm easily but difficult to get job in investment banking.. bcoz u dont see inv banking companies coming to campuses othere than IIm-A,B,C..

"marketing(major) + finance(minor) is this possible?
yes it is possible.. infact this is wht most of FT ppl do.


4)IF a person in PGDM-FIN allowed to hav dual speacialization?

as of now dual specialization is nt allowed in IMt. cant say exactly abt ur batch




5) If by takin Marketing(major)+ Finance(minor) i can get placed in banking and financial consultation firms then by that u mean that i fall in the category of ppl which have landed up wid avg package of 11 lacs
(as IMT states tht Finance ppl hav a avg package of 11+) or the ppl wid Fianance(major) and marketing(minor) i.e. PGDM-FIN land up wid the best Financial jobs.

u can say tht... but as u know salary depends on indiduals... so its upto u tht how much u can make out of it...

6) A PGDM-FIN also gets to choose a minor say(marketin, hr, opr).


right... minor can be taken anything


7) Sir according to u which course is bettr , cause really I am an engineer and hav no clue bout how FINANCE or MARKETING goes....so at this point of time wat factors should i consider bfor choosing a branch?

yaar it depends on ur own choice tht wht do u want to do.. waise if u think number attracts u and u can really work hard then go for finance or if u think u have good soft skills and power to convince ppl then u go for marketing...

this can be just a thinking... at end of the day its ur choice only.
