Guys, what happened to the 70% weightage to CAT scores rule this year? I am sure the weightage scenario has changed drastically... any comments?

I am also of the opinion that the weightage given to CAT score this time was a little less......More emphasis was given to the acads and profile........if that was not the case then we wouldn't be having so many 97s and 98s making it when people with 99+ are still in the waitin list.......
If 70% weightage was given to CAT score then IMT would have also had a list like MDI....ie decreasing order of percentiles....

dunno if I am the right person in answering u...but I will elaborate just a little...
my CAT percentile... 97.xx
my acads..10th- 88.5 12th- 91.2 engg.(upto 3rd year)-85.2
my gd and PI were satisfactory...I am still WAITING..!
and so I think IMT's admission procedure is nothing short of being a DA VINCI CODE..!

I know someone with 99.96 who didn't make it to IMT, so yes, I too believe that Cat weightage was changed this year

I can see ur point there mate but again evaluation of GD-PI is totally a relative thing......can't really comment on that......my point was that weightage of CAT percentile has definitely decreased........vaise with such acads hopefully u will make it.....hope to see u at IMT.....

i guess more than anything,they had kept diversity and gr8er work ex of the batch into perspective..coz ive been keeping in touch with the imt 2008-010 group on orkut and most ppl are having sizable work ex.. the freshers were few and far between..they're banking on work ex guys this time like SCMHRD does..

It has been clearly been pointed out by someone a few pages back that the 360 ppl who got in are not the first 360 ranks .. Think: why wud they ask for an application letter for upgradation if it had been the top 360 they wud have just upgraded according to their pref sheet. Neways my take is that (and i firmly believe it ) lets say a handful of people mayb 40-50 for FT and 20-30 for Finance were kept in waiting list for that particular stream , i know it sounds foolish but remember how IMI came up with 247 names for 120 Seats ? ok so these guys are still in the waitlist while the lower ranked people have got other courses.

Another thing to think about , if it was the top 360, we wud have got waitlist nos. Clearly in such a case a waitlist no. is impossible. lets say FT waitlist Guy vs IMT (HR) Admit.... Here HR guy will think why is he not beign upgraded and waitlist no. 1 guy gettin my hogher preferred course. if u think logically, you will understand that IMT is doing this just to avoid false hopes among students.
