Would advise you all to wait for a couple of more days... They should be in the process of confirming the same...

However do note that:
1. If you are in the Main List or First Wait List of PGDIM and you have submitted the DD, then automatically your admissions is confirmed since the college has announced a 2nd Wait List for PGDIM.
2. If you are in the Main List of PGDITM/PGDISEM and you have submitted the DD, then also the admissions is confirmed since the college has announced the 1st Wait List of both these courses.

1. NITIE does not send any assignments... Although we (as in IMPACT) are in the process of finalizing your Induction Program, "Groove '08" So keep watching this space for more... It may have certain assignments but it will surely have lots of fun.

2. No Sir.. There's no formal attire as such... Except for certain occasions when some big hot shot visits the campus for some guest lecture or some HR from some companies visits for PPTs in which case it becomes mandatory to be in formals..
So carry all your Jeans Pants, Sneakers, Bermudas, T-Shirts and what have you...

There is no particular format as such... Your certificate should carry one of these following key words or something similar:
1. Good Conduct
2. Good Moral Conduct
3. Fair Conduct
4. Good Character

All of us are of Good Conduct ... This is just for the formality...

In case you have signed on any undertaking while at the time of GD-PI... you would have to carry that particular doc... In your case Character Certificate is one...

You should also carry the following in original and xerox both:
1. Mark Sheets (Engg.)
2. Degree Certificates (Engg.)
3. Work Experience Certificate (If Working)
4. Relieving Certificate (If Working)
5. CAT Score Card
6. Call Letter
7. OBC/SC/ST (Which Ever is Applicable) Certificate
8. Non Creamy Layer Certificate (If OBC)

One more question to add to the lot.....
When do we know the hostel and room number that is allotted to us ? and how are they allotted . I mean does it happen on a first come first served basis or is there another algorithm followed or is it done @ random ??
I've been put up @ the MDP hostel during my GD/PI...just loved that....I know we wont be let to occupy those but are they strictly meant for people coming for the MDP Program ?

This is Anand here.. We met @ NITIE dis sunday wen I came there for GDPI under obc Non creamy layer quota.. First of all I should thank you for all your support.. I have been selected for PGDIM (under obc).. but today I came across the below attached news regarding obc quota for post graduation studies..
How will NITIE handle this issue? The hearing is on July 10th.. and we would anyway join NITIE before that.. Now being as pessiistic as possible, what if the ruling goes against obc quota on july 10th... Will I be officially striped of my seat? :(
This is crucial for me.. I have already resigned my current job.. Since I did not have a good convert (my only convert before this was IMT), I had planned to change job and try for better next year.. The joining date for my new job is 21st may..
Now if I have to join NITIE, then I cant join this job.. and then if the above said tragedy (my admission becoming void) happens, I ll be both collegeless as well as jobless..

Delhi HC notice to Centre on OBC quota

NEW DELHI: The Delhi High Court on Monday issued notice to the Centre on a petition challenging the implementation of 27 per cent quota for OBCs in IIMs, other Central higher educational institutions and post graduate courses.

A Bench headed by Justice T S Thakur sought the Centre's response on the petition within four weeks and posted the matter for further hearing on July 10.

An alumni association of IIMs had approached the High Court seeking to restrain the Centre from providing quota to OBC students in higher educational institutions including the IIMs.

The association contended that the government had misinterpreted the Supreme Court judgement, which while upholding the OBC reservation policy, had said that it would not be applicable to higher educational institutions.

The petition filed by Pan-IIM Alumni Association submitted that an office memorandum issued by the Centre on April 20 be stayed by which the government intended to implement OBC reservation in higher educational institutions. PTI AAC

Hostel Rooms are allotted as and when you report in NITIE... its basically first come first serve ..last year, if someone had some special preference (like u want to stay with some of ur old fren) that was taken care of. I hope they haven't changed tht.

MDP hostels are meant only for MDP or guests (ur parents or frens) and as u were a guest of NITIE at tht time u were given a stay there. 1st yr students are alloted only in completely WI-FIed Hostel 5 ( the new hostel)

Single seater are given only in second yr. NITIE doesnt have any special policies for girls in this case

the few exceptional cases in which ur double seater room can luckily get converted to single seater:
1). If u r the last person to join in the batch and total batch strength ( boys or girls) is an odd number
2) if the person u r alloted the room with leaves NITIE after the start of course (losing his fees) and nobody joins the course after him
3) If u are exceptionally lucky and create a new 'case' :sarcasm:

Can you kindly let us know if NITIE would give out any confirmation to waitlisted candidates (I was waitlisted#4 in ITM pgm) as and when their calls get converted.

I had a telephone conversation where the lady on the other line said the my call is converted but I guess we cannot assume the phone conversation to be official.

Any mails/updates on the website/snail mail would dispense all doubts because I need to withdraw my fee from some other institution as well.

I know its sounds desperate but then I hope you can understand our situation, any help/information/guidance will really soothe our nerves.

I've certain queries regarding joining formalities :-

When is NITIE likely to inform regarding the laptop deals ? Any idea regd the cost & configuration i.e likely to be offered, so that I can do a comparison from the market in this free period ?

Would like to gather information about how a routine day is for a PGDITM student at NiTiE (class timing, kind of projects, exams schedule, weekends, dress code etc....) ?

Also, from your experience please specify any tips/essentials which can be handy considering the fact that there's a still a month remaining before the session begins for us ?
