Ok.. here goes ur answer...
First some general facts:
1. There's no differentiation by a company in terms of package being offered for the same kind of profile, to students of two different B-Schools, given these B-Schools are in the top league.
2. Sometimes a profile takes priority over package whereby a person leaves a profile with a 7 figure salary to join a firm for a profile with a 6 figure salary.
3. At NITIE, only that salary is taken into consideration, against which a job offer has been accepted. For example, if I have two offers with a package X and Y, and if X > Y, and if I choose the profile which offers me the package of Y, then Y will be taken into consideration while computing the average. This is not so with many other B-Schools, reports of which have time and again been published in media and on PG. There's news of computing average
a) By taking the higher package (even though that offer was not accepted)
b) By combining all the offers and not the ones which are actually accepted
c) By combining the international and domestic offers together
Trust me none of these happen at NITIE.
4. The final placement reports is yet to be published in the media. And it should be out anytime soon. I won't be able to comment on any other B-School, but what I can say about NITIE is, no calculation is done without having an official communication from the companies.
5. As for our standing amongst other B-Schools of the same stature in terms of placements... I am sure you people would be having some contacts (as in friends) in some of these B-Schools. Try contacting them, and try getting to know the status over there in terms of final placements. You will yourself find that NITIE is no where lagging in terms of placements packages. I am asking you to do this because I am not an authorized person to comment on other B-School Placements, and rightly so.
Now to your specific queries
1. As for previous figures on the website, those figures are the final ones.
2. There's nothing called "the general standard for any B-School...the Initial average or the Final one". These details are revealed to the media, as a press release only.
3. As for final average to be available officially, we have to wait for some more time, for the reasons stated above.
4. As for website updation with the placement figures, the same point as number 3 applies...
