hi All,
This is Ravi and i've got admit too ! I'm happy and would be joining.
about me..
BE with 4.5 yrs of Exp at IBM
Have been in the US for the past 1.5 yrs and will be coming back, to join the school. The reason why ive mentioned this is to reiterate my belief in Great Lakes. yes, the school is functioning from a temp building and may not have good num of faculty, but as someone mentioned earlier, the truth is we couldn't get into IIMs. I'm prety sure that in the coming years, great lakes will be no lesser than IIMs or ISBs..
The reason why "I" choose to join Great Lakes is..
1: US Economys heatlh is not all that Good. Working here is fine, but studying is not advisable under present circumstances. I dont want to mortgage my home in India and study abroad, for which the returns, or even a getting job in US is looking bleak. I prefer to add wealth, to my wealth
2:Indian Economy is growing, and I hope it wont follow US where ever it goes ! in short, things in India aren't that bad as in US. So getting a decent Job wont be a problem. Also, the schools in India have campus placement options, which is good.
3: I need a one yr MBA. the ROI from ISB is less in comparison to Glakes. Glakes is about 1/3 rd the cost of ISB. Also, i feel its too much of a crowd at ISB, with the strength of 400+. So Great lakes fits the bill correctly for me.
4: I'm in touch with Glakes alumni and they are doing great in their jobs. Once you step in corporate world, its entirely on you to prove yourself and the college that you are from shouldn't matter much.
These are my thoughts and reasons as to why i choose Glakes.
regarding the blogs or ppl complaining about great lakes, I care less. To all the apprehensive/doubtful minds, Just question what you want and look at the trade offs. Great lakes is coming up with a good campus, else they wouldn't put the photo on the front page of their brochure !. Once establised, you wouldnt regret being part of this upcoming school. I beleive students had the same dilema while joining ISB or IIMs in its formative years.
My gut feeling tells me to go for Great lakes, what does yours say ?
