I think that education shouldn't be subsidized for anyone, who could afford to pay and hence fee hike is justified if cost is more. If fees were less than cost in the past then it was mistake and hiking fee is just a correction.
I am an aspirant only so don't consider that i am not getting affected

Don't look at the hike in percentage terms, look at it in absolute numbers. Rs 1 Lakh hike is less than Rs 2 Lakh hike by ISB (total - 15 Lakhs)
Yes it is a burden to the students. But don't you think tax payer's money can be put to good use in developing education across the country rather than subsidizing the elite few.
I as a tax payer want more people to be benefited from my money. Not the ones who can afford to pay for their own education.

wow!!!!!
they know that they would be giving great salaries to all its students....
and hence want to cash in.....
they are sure that rising fee would not reduce the no of students joining it
because one can easily get education loans.....
they are hence cashing in on the sucess they are having......
pure business and nothing else
something we do not expect from such great instis......

Hi All ,
Friends IIMs have forgot that the teaching is a noble cause and they are driven by greedy money minded people , the reason for fees hike is to compensate better perks for their faculties. Faculties may be feeling jealous by seeing heavy pay packet for the students. If students are getting better salaries than its because of thier caliber (after all the hard work of CAT and getting selected among odd 1 and half lac aspirants).I could not understand why there is sudden increase in fees year after year , last year they have increased from 175000 to around 250000 and again this year from 250000 to 400000 despite the fact that each of the top IIMs have surplus money of 100 crores with them.
As far as BANK loans are considered , its not at all justified that since we get good placement from IIMs we should pay huge fees , if tomarrow IIMs say that ur getting 25 lac as a package from this institute so pay 20 lac as fees on the name of development and will politely say "Dont worry we have a tie up with bank and it will provide the loans".
One of my junior who is in final year of Engg, he have a calls from IIM B ,C , K he is in big shock because of this fees hike, his father is a clerk in a bank with annual income of just 2.4 lac , his father has already took a loan for his engineering studies and agian a loan of around 8 lac will be verydifficult for him.IIMs support scholarship only to those whose annual income are less than 2 lac(how rubbish), If someone's family income is less than 2 lac how one can prepare for CAT ,as preparation itself costs around Rs.30-40 K(including coaching clases test series and forms of various institues).
I am not totally opposing the fees hike but it should be marginal on year on year basis may be around 15-20% (This is the rate at which salary hikes is given in prosperous IT & ITES sector). 60% hike has exposed the greedy face of IIMs.

Though the fees hike is a bit of a sudden shock to many one needs to understand that though IIMs are a government institution, they dont get funds and subsidies to the tune of say IITs from the government( i.e the govt does not subisidise the management education for students). As an instituition of great repute, it is in their interest to keep the standards up and compensations to faculties attractive.
Though its easy to get loans , it is still burden for many but then no pain no gain.

i guess, we should not be proud of the fact that we have got the coveted call...a sense of modesty is required....sorry dude...but you need to pay good package for the excellent faculty(glimpse of them we had seen during pi,...at least my panelists were awesome.they had so much knowledge.)...coz if not then they will go abroad and have a nice livelihood..i guess there is no such feeling of hatred among them...if so, why will they groom us .....well ur points may be valid ..but plz tone down boy...

Re: IIM's hike fees -

welll... finally IIM's are catching up with some of the private B-Schools in terms of cost of the course......
If none of us complain about the high price in other colleges then why are we complaining about IIM's considering that IIM's are much better in allmost everything.
If the IIM's had increased their fees every year then probably this year the figure wud hav not touched 60%.
Imparting education is a noble cause and that is valid for all institutes IIM's,IMTS,ICFAI's,Symbi's,SPJ's ..all.... so why are we complaining only to IIM's .. is it just because it is not a private institute?
I really feel that IIM's provide allmost everything better so why are do we hesitate to pay better?
The decision for fees hike must have been taken considering many aspects .
But yes studying at a gud institute with less cost will, of course, be a welcome relief for all of us ..... hope one day all insitute decalare few %drop in fees
cat07 --> 95.0 (qa-98.6,VA-76.76) .. my first attempt..it went off without a scratch .. next year i will :grab:it....
snap-77.25 (dint apply to any college)
