| Book version of 'All I wanted to speak about CAT' posts -
15-02-2008, 02:36 PM
Hey puys,
I was just thinking, that one of the most sacred threads on Pagalguy - http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/cat-an...eak-about.html (All I wanted to Speak about CAT)
... will celebrate its 4th anniversary on April 14th. Why not make a compiled PDF book version of it and make it available for Free download for easy and enjoyable reading?
How does the idea sound? Would anyone be willing to volunteer on helping with the compilation? How do we make it more interesting and more than just a compilation?
Discuss what you think of the idea. If the book comes out well, we can eve think of talking to publishers and getting it out in print .

@apurv
Count me in.I can start the work.I will make a draft of the all the stories (normal compillation).
Then to make it more interesting we can provide the emails of the person posting their stories after seeking their permission.This way people can even congratulate them and can stay in touch with those BONDS

What say ? | That's a gr8 idea. This is how we can go about it...
1. Select the best posts
2. Since they are written in casual language, we should edit them to proper English
3. With each post, we can maybe add a link to their Orkut profiles and posts on PG
4. Should we invite Chandoo - the thread starter to write a Foreward or Introduction?
what else can we put into it? should we go back to some of the posters and ask them to write about their life after MBA and maybe during MBA?
cheers,

apurv | My three cents - After finalising posts we should give a chance to respective posters to add/delete things as privacy etc. may become a issue at some point of time.
- Of course a general gyaan from PG Stalwarts can help making book more contemporary and relevant.
- Finally, why only Cat, as in my opinion some one not being able to relish dreams in CAT but ending in Xl/FMS/ISB etc. should also be part of this endeavour.

@apurv
Ya,andy is write.Why only CAT ? We can make it a generalised book for those surpassing life's challenges and finally coming out with flying colors.This can include XAT and other entrance exams Plus GMATs/GREs PLus job experiences.
One more thing i want to mention is, instead of publishing all stories in one go,we can make it customised for ex.
suppose a guy struggled after accident and finally cleared CAT after 3 years in hospital,so we can give it a suitable titile like "Cat in hospital- Meow "
I hope i was able to convey what i wanted to say.
Will come out with more suggestions | | | | | The Following User Says Thank You to accenture07 For This Useful Post:

I feel this is a great idea. And I'd be more than willing to chip in, if needed. Also, can we create ebook versions for GD/PI experiences of people? I think they'll help all the newbies (and oldbies ) a lot!

With Regards, Andy | Makes sense and in fact, the All I wanted to speak thread has some interesting gyaan on XAT-FMS too which we can include.
In fact we can have two separate books for Indian MBA and International MBA. Quote:

For eg, we can keep the PG vocab and the smileys intact but simple sms language can be edited so that it can make sense to everybody.
I'd say let's start work on this ASAP . I'll post a sampler of the book here in a day or two to see how we can work it out | | | | | The Following 2 Users Say Thank You to Apurv For This Useful Post: | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
