well the unexpected convert from IMT G (Finance) has made me pen down this post.....hope this helps ppl going fr GD PI next year......read on to know y u must never loose hope of a final convert even if u r sure u messed up big time
My profile (mere matrimonial ad ka copy paste

1) Acads - excellent in school (DPS Noida and DPS Mathura Road) and average in college( NSIT-IT'06 batch,DU,Delhi)
2) 18 months work ex at time of GD PI in Amdocs wid 6 months abroad in Cyprus
3) Gud Extra cir - Lots of Social work,State level swimmer(no prizes though
)
4) CAT 07 score - 98.2 (99.3 DI, 97 VA,a measy 76 in QA)
5) Fake engineer ++ in IT (Information Tech)
6) blah blah.......yada yada.......blah blah
GD (held in IMT Ghz itself):
Topic : Relevance of Cooperatives in India
15 ppl....8 mins.....guess what happened.......a fishmarket from start to finish(wasnt that difficult 2 guess huh ?) ......some ppl started discussing corporates (oops......but wasnt the topic on Cooperatives
).....
my view on whole group - poor GD (the group talked only of Amul, no discussion on cooperatives in other fields....so big time point repetition and loads of ranting)
my own performance - worst GD ever fr me, was on d extreme side seat,lung power isnt that gr8 either ,hd to decide which fishmarket 2 enter, as 2 of them were going on simultaneously in diff corners of room....cudnt decide though..hardly spoke,......tried to tell d group to discuss cooperatives apart from Amul and also not to mix up corporates wid cooperatives.....spoke only twice for 15 sec max each time till i was shouted down
my own rating in GD - 3/10 (incase the total was 10)

(my worst fear hd come thrugh.....performance in GD was disastrous 2 say d least n now d same panel.....God help me!!!).....nyways

M : why did u speak so less in GD
me : (gale mein kharaash hai bhai,zyada nahi bol sakte...
)....coz i dont think 15 ppl can dicsuss nything wothwhile in 7-8 mins wen every1 is shouting at top of their voices,thr wr 2 GD's going on,group was deviating(corporates instead of cooperatives) ,no1 was prepared to listen 2 others( actually i didnt hv much clue about cooperatives either)
M : ok,so now u hv 2 remove 2 ppl out of those 15,who wud it b
me : gave 2 names and explained y i chose those 2,1st didnt speak at all,2nd spoke incoherently (kyu meri jaan ke peeche pade ho bhai,...un log ne mera ka bigada hai jo mujhse yeh sab pooch rahe ho ?.....)
M : In your form u hv written, 18 months work ex (wid 6 month abroad),u think u r over smart ???
me : (1st bouncer....they has asked
only to write number of months but i hd added work ex abroad thing also)...
i wrote it coz i want to project that i hv been abroad since going abroad helps change the mindset (kya baat hai, ekdum se pata chal gaya ki main shaana banne ki kosish kar raha tha
)
M : so do u think u wil get extra points in PI due to this 6 months
me : ya sure,thats y i wrote it down
(in hindsight..guess this was d best answer i gv them which made the convert possible

me : yup (ab fake waaleh engineer(in IT) to hain lekin harek subject ka naam to rat ke gaya
tha...to bol pade ki haan madam,pada to huin....stupidest of grins on my face

F : if we hv 2 start a Software project in which requirements not certain,what model wil u use
me : Prototype model (explained y )
F : giv pros and cons of the prototype model

my own rating in PI : 6-7/10
so all in all,
an atrocious GD and decent PI.....was only interested in Finance course at IMT if at all(means
final rank was to be btw 1-60 to get through...as only 60 seats in Finance,the flagship course of IMT G),i was expecting rank btw 700-1200....guess 2500 + ppl called in all (every1 who applied to IMT and had over 95 %tile in CAT was called...IMT has total of 360 seats for all courses).....so it was "bye bye IMT" as per me !!!
Result (Mar 29) : converted IMT Ghz (Finance) in merit list itself...got my first preference(Finance) at IMT.....nice surprise
Moral of story :
if u hv a decent profile,avg CAT score and most importantly, are confident during PI,then u can get through wid little contribution in GD(but u need to justify ur reluctance 2 speak)
