300,000 is such a less aspirants when there are machines available in market which are scanning 8000-10000 sheets an hour . You can give results in less than 7 days . But I think this outsourcing is some thought of a Marketing Strategy of a so called IT Company , who just wants to make money on Child Future , They would charge Infrastructure and what not .... server of such and such configurations ( each time , year after year , Technology from Java , .NET now this that.. blah blah .Unlike OMR which is their for quiet some time)

OMR is tried and tested technology and every body has evidence of the accuracy .

Suggest Mr Professor , if your software comes with some Bug , do you have a fall back , can you do manual procedure , what is the transparency , what would happen to our RTI Act , suggest what would happen if the connectivity goes down some reason like problem in Network ( Sir Banks whose systems are said to be build on Sun and Developed on Finnacle by Infosys , goes all bad when a banker says sorry the system is not working we cant transfer the funds, do you have any system what a child future would be like ? When the beauty of IIM CAT is the Time Management , Several Cases of Symbiosis has come where local connectivity failed which really caused dearer to students.
I am really surprised if their web sites do not work in time of results ( and we know IIM has tons of money they can take any bull server , like Google )

But would it be worthwhile ?

We can try ONLINE when your aspirants are less , rather than more .Fun is GMAT and GRE is successful as they have more sessions, less people and geographical advantages .Selected Centres ?

Things on OMR or latest technology would be better , you can try scanning double and then matching the same .

What calculation would make 300,000 people do give exam in one Sitting ( NOT POSSIBLE FOR NEXT 5 YEARS , Connectivity is issue)
How many paper sets would professor plans to make ?

Giving in a private IT company hand , what is the seriousness left from the invigilators hand . Mind you he is not a teacher , he would be a general adminsitrative person ,

What would happen if WINDOWS HANGS and shuts down .And Be Sure it would will you ask an IT Company to create a new OS for Conducting CAT ?

Rohit

well, i really wish CAT doent go online. personally i feel that the test itself would lose its charm when it goes online.

It is THE toughest examinations for MBA and i can only hope it doesnt go online like GRE tappin on the keyboard to select our right answers wherein i enjoy working out on paper and shade my answers.

i guess many of my puy friends out there too would wish the same.

ONLINE CAT : A CLARIFICATION

An article appeared in Business Standard dated February 4, 2008 which gives an impression that a decision has been taken that IIMs will introduce online CAT from CAT 2009. This is totally incorrect. In view of increasing number of candidates IIMs are considering various alternatives for modifying the process of conducting CAT, if necessary. Online testing is one of those alternatives. The proposals are at the preliminary stage of discussion.

Re: CAT to go online from November 2009 - 01-04-2008, 11:21 PM

IIM has finally declared that the CAT will be conducted online from 2009 ..
also..the online model will be similar to the pattern followed in the exams like GMAT and GRE.the exam will be conducted in batches within a period of few months.the online test will have different papers instead of a single question paper as it had been till now.

this new pattern has its own pros and cons..on the one hand where people say it will make the evaluation faster, easier, transparent and error proof...there are questions like maintaining the same difficulty level for everyone, connectivity and hacking of the online software..!

lets hope for the best

It dsnt make any sense..dats y i trust it..
