CAT to go online from November 2009

I dont think so they have decided to go online from 09..they are just checking out the options..i wud request u to please refrain posting like this.

yesterday read an advertisement (2 b precise it was a TENDER NOTICE) in THE HINDU by IIMs inviting applications from service providers for online examinations...... 2 quote the advertisement.....

PRE-QUALIFICATION OF SERVICE PROVIDERS FOR COMPUTERIZATION OF COMMON ADMISSIONS TEST (CAT) AT AHMEDABAD, BANGALORE, CALCUTTA, INDORE, KOZHIKODE, LUCKNOW, AND SHILLONG .

COMPANY HAVE BEEN CONDUCTING THE PRESTIGIOUS COMMON ADMISSIONS TEST (CAT) FOR ADMISSION TO THEIR POST GRADUATE PROGRAMMES FOR THE LAST 31 YEARS. ABOUT 241,000 CAT BULLETINS WERE SOLD FOR CAT 2007. The problem of maintaining the same difficulty level will be the most important one for the IIMs . ppl will adapt after a few years but those who have to undergo this transition will definitely suffer. I pray the CAT does not go online.

do check "THE HINDU" dated 31st March 2008 and my previous post in d same page.....i believe same ad will also b published in other national dailies.....so do check it n then reply my frnd.....

dude i have read tht article..
thts wat i said..they are checking whether its possible or not...
no such decision tht it will be online has been taken yet, and wud be confirmed after its feasibility is tested
and hence saying tht
not offending u

well..no..the decision has been taken..and the iims even invited firms and service providers for the computerisation of the exam..
cat goes online from 2009 for sure!

But TOI says, the CAT is going online from 2k9 and IIMs are in the process of scouting for suitable service providers.
Am not sure of what Hindu has published, but ideally it shouldn't be contradictory to this.

An article appeared in Business Standard dated February 4, 2008 which gives an impression that a decision has been taken that IIMs will introduce online CAT from CAT 2009. This is totally incorrect. In view of increasing number of candidates IIMs are considering various alternatives for modifying the process of conducting CAT, if necessary. Online testing is one of those alternatives. The proposals are at the preliminary stage of discussion.
