Had my GD PI today at Chennai..
Actually wanted to put down a ball-by-ball account But now I dont think that will be useful for everyone.. Anyway, here's the gist of what happened:
- The GD was a case-based one!! It was a caselet, in fact.. Just half a page.. The one I got was on KFC and how they can build their brand image.. Pretty decent.. No fish market stuff, thankfully Prep time: 2 mins, Discussion Time: 15 mins..
- GD Panelists: A prof, an alumni and a current student.. One candidate did not speak much during the GD.. He was asked to summarise..
- At the end of the GD, we were asked to take a personality profiling test.. 24 qns that had to be answered in 8 mins.. they had 4 words each.. we would have to select the word that is MOST like us, and LEAST like us..
- After the test, we left the GD room and went back to the waiting hall.. Then we were called for interview one by one.. There were 4 panels..
- My interview questions almost entirely centered on my answers in the form.. In fact, they were focussing mostly on my ambitions and goals.. I had stated that I want to be an entrepreneur.. So they asked me lots of questions on that..
- I have only around 2 yrs of experience.. they asked me abt that.. Then they asked me to define my role in my company..
- Tech stuff: they asked me a couple of questions on components of TV (as I am an ECE guy).. I couldnt answer.. So the panelist asked me if i've forgotten all that I learnt at college.. I said I remember the communication part of my engineering and that I was ready to take questions on that..
But he did not probe me on that
- Some questions on ethics in business.. they wanted to know if I would bribe someone for my business.. And they quoted the movie "Sivaji" for this
- There was a question on CSR activities of my company and whether I take part in all that..
- Finally they asked me if I have got any other calls.. I said yes (SPJ, IIMB, IIML).. they asked me if i would take GLIM if they gave me a seat and asked me to pay money within 5 days.. they kept grillin me on that.. i kept replyin confidently But god only knows if they were convinced..
- On the whole, a fairly cool process..
- BTW, saw Kaykay Thanks fr all ur help man!!

RESULT: REJECTED
Best wishes to all those who have got selected!

more or less the same experience as Vishy said.
GD was for close to 15 minutes. The caselet was about an MBA guy who wanted to start Amazon in India, whether it should be an online or a brick and mortar store. It was a moderate GD, with no fish market stuff. Almost everybody got chance to speak something. The moderators asked one guy to summarize.
Immediately after GD they gave the sheet for the personal profiling test. This an area where you can prepare nothing. Be yourself. The sheet gives you a set of 24 questions, each question would contain 4 words, you need to mark the work most suited to your character, and the one least suited. For some questions the majority of the options looked similar to me .
eg: something like generous, stubborn, considerate, friendly (not exact combinations, i dont recollect the same words ). There is nothing you can prepare for this!!!
The interview was based on the Profile itself. The questions came as and when the panelist flipped through each of the pages.
Be thorough about the work you do, the projects.. you may be asked to explain the work, if you are implementing some formula (where and how did this formula come from) etc.
Some of the other questions to me where the generic stuff,
Why do you want to do an MBA
Why GLIM
What specialisation are you looking for.
Rest of the questions were specific to my projects and my career plans.
Atleast in my PI there were no GK stuff asked to me, but cant take this as a thumb rule,
They dint ask for any certificates, only thing which was verified was you CAT/GMAT score card by the ADCOMM members
Met a few Pagalguys there.. it is a indeed a good feeling to know some of your fellow aspirants... (atleast you get to talk to someone when you are sitting in the hall).
Thanks and kudos to the adcomm members | | | | | The Following 12 Users Say Thank You to vivek_george For This Useful Post: | adi_2607 (04-02-2008), arijit_parial (03-02-2008), Aseem Sharma (09-02-2008), hameed (03-02-2008), hi2skb (03-02-2008), kaykay@glakes (03-02-2008), pankhuri83 (03-02-2008), Robaroo... My GD/PI experience for 2008-2009 programme goes like this.
1) Had been to 10:00 slot.....called for GD at around 10:40......was case study....so none need to prepare anything for that.....
2) After a small introduction from 2 panel members & ourselves (8 ppl), 5 mins for analysin d problem & jot down the points.....
3) The case study was------------One guy working hard for a company for almost 10 yrs leaving out his family in his native place....He is an exceptional resource.....Joined as techie & right now he is a production manager.....knows all in & outs of the business.....recently he has got an offer to look after a sick unit in his native town......he has decided to go but his MD has been giving positive assurance & does not allow him to go.....Very much dejected, he tenders his resignation......As a MD, what will you do.....???? If he leaves for his personal needs, will the business be affected........???
4) Discussion went on for around 10-12 mins......Another 5-7 mins for conclusion.......Bcoz they specifically asked us to conclude wen thr wer 5 mins left........
5) Since plenty of time is left for one to speak, thr is no point in rushin & grabbin the chance to speak.....Normally, on an avg, GD lasts for 8-10 mins.......but here its for 15-20 mins........so no worries/concerns abt GD part........
6) Interview--------asked quesions abt the online form i filled.....no technical for me though other panels ve asked questions on academic backgroung to my frnds.....den questions abt my work-ex, projects handled......Why MBA......??? den let it off.......
but it all depends upon the panel u get in.......luck factors plays a crucial role.......
7) Only CAT/GMAT scorecard is enough.....the ADCOM members will just verify & give it back to u...no need to carry unnecessary stuffs......
Warm Regards,

Hi Friends,
Thanks to all of you for providing good insight about the process going on..
Nice to find that GDs are giving opportunity for everyone to speak and there is no fishy market stuff going on...
I have one question :
While asking questions on work experience, how far interviewers went regarding business co-relations and functional perspective?

Thanks
