CAT 2008 study group for chennai

Hai Guys wats happening , i find too much of argument than any constructive discussion..
Come on ya...make this a platform to discussion our difficulties and our best practices regarding CAT prep...
Ok i nned an information,do anybody know wen MAT and TANCET exam are Scheduled?...these exams are conducted more than once per year i suppose...

Hi guys and gals,
I am a second year engineering student with an ardent interest in business. I would as a result like to get a degree of MBA from one of the IIMs. But I havent started to study yet and I have no idea how to go about it.

Pls tell me some institute which will help me wih some guidance and some hands on coaching here in chennai and their specific branches too, if possible. And also pls post every resource online that you know of here. If it is against forum rules, Just Pm them to me.

mat is held 4 times a year and those in dec and feb exams are accepted by reputed b-schools.. according to me, it is better not to take tancet.. any other queries, please feel free to contact me..

Hi guys.......I joined IMS for CAT-07 and did not attend classes properly...I have all the material with me..Is it ok for me to prepare for the next year with those material and just join for mockcats? or is it advisible to join postal course in some institute?

Buddy....in second yr and starting with your CAT prep..
Thats too early....

My advice...

1. concentrate on acads.
2. Enjoy your college life
3. Read a lot..books esp non-fiction and newspapers..(Hindu and if possible start with The Economic Times also)
4. Start your prep jus 10 months before CAT,..thats more than enough for a fresher...

If you still wannu know about the basics of CAT..go to TIME or IMS.TIME has their office in nungambakkam and IMS @ Egmore and jus enquire about their class room coaching..
They will explain you what CAT is all about and how their coaching s going to be.....jus speak with him to give a start....after that come back to pagalguy and explore...

Dont start your prep..(read math, verbal and DI) now...jus chillax

Coaching insti materials can jus help you with the basics...so you can start ur prep with ur old material

Once ur done with ur basics...start with the next level...i don remember any proper books for higher levels....probably u can go thro the Quants forum and other prep related forums for it....there u ll find a lot of online resources and also book names

For verbal RC - How to read better and faster by Norman Lewis can be a good start along with newspapers, non-fiction and abstract literature

Join AIMCAT or SIMCAT by july/august 2008...

ok one advice to all junta based on my prev years exp in CAT
dont take too much pressure on yourself..lots of time left for CAT 08..
start ur prep by march..at a very very basic level i.e start with ur basics in quant and do speed maths..speed maths will help u for DI..finish ur quant basics by may end and start with ur sectional tests by june and by july u must be all set for the AIMCATS/SIMCATS ..in july u shud be more into analysing ur mocks which i failed to do and from then on u shud start building on ur strengths and improve ur weakness..each mock must be analysed for a min of atleast 5 hrs..its not how may mocks u do but how much u learn form each mock..
this month i.e feb do some basic stuff for RC like reading widely from various newspapers..wordlist wont be of much help but its good to have it finished jus to be on the safer side...use the month of feb to just lay a platform for ur prep from march..jus put down a plan and work it out form march..march to may jus 2 hrs or 1.5 hrs fo prep will do..ur intensity of prep should increase only from the month of june!!!

Sorry.......iam posting after a long time, i do surf PG regulary ....but i too feel chennai thread is quite inactive ya...we can discuss many thing regarding our MBA dream and our activites about MBA in Chennai and many....why cant we make this thread bit resourceful and informative. I find PG very useful, but i feel quite aback wen i need to discuss about chennai based MBA,coaching centre...other events regarding CAT or MBA going on in chennai

Come on puys....lets start ........and make this thread active and inturn useful...
