My story goes like this.....
CAT 2006(was in final year BE)--- 86.9(with just a single mark in VA).Had prepared a lot for the CAT but i guess efforts were not in the right direction
CAT 2007(When i am working with an IT company)----93.10(didnt even study a single word)
Now i am banking upon CAT 08.......so let's see what's up for all of us out there.

I am really struggling with the technicality of the English grammer and finding it hard to break the ice.I have gone through few chapters of Wren & Martin also but unable to get a confidence to take it more.Last month I joined IMS pune and currently preparing for MODAT-1.Please suggest is the BRMS will be sufficient to have a good basics or do I need to carry any other material.

Disclaimer: Always go for a second opinion.

I personally think that its not necessary to bring up ones level of grammatical ability to wren and martins standard. Its niiice if u can ..but its not a must.

The grasp on grammatical stuff can be built only over a period of time. Also as CAT grammar questions are from a set of pattern questions, u can also work on that.

IMS-BRMs are good. If u feel that they are not helping u and u need more and more practice exercises u can also try to get som TIME grammar books or CL grammar books from friends. Those books will be more than enough.Do keep in touch with grammar gods@ pagal. go to the respective thread and u will find loads of help.

for eg:
http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/englis...08-beyond.html (GRAMMAR for CAT 08 and beyond)

do search / tag search and u will find even more resources

ciao,

hii
I think its the smart preparation which matters than the length of time u dedicate..Sp proper planning is essential..like what u r going to do today and in this current week..So that at the end of day u can analyze where u went wrong..where to give more time and where less...

Best

Re: CAT 2008 for Working Professionals - 08-04-2008, 12:45 PM

@seba,
Hi All,

I am here once again out of lack of motivation and feeling a little depressed/frustrated when i see myself wasting time for nothing... as in the previous weekend... so am here to look upto someone, to be in the RACE or to put it short.. to START the race for 2008! as i feel that its high time in april if someone needs to take it easy in the long run... i know its not 'easy' as i said, but its all relative statements here...

so seba, one suggestion i have for ppl like u and me, and that is, for working professionals, who generally have weekends off, like mostly IT guys, we need to take it very seriously... as in need to put in atleast 3-4 hours including sat and sunday...

and specially for bangaloreans like u and me, we had a long weekend, 3 day off,.. either we do something which keeps us in the right spirit and good health, or we get back to books... so that way we CAN squeeze the max time for prep...and ofcourse, its just not the weekends, daily effort is also required so lets call it START 2008 from now on...errr.... that josh was for me as i am sure most of u are already ahead in the race..

cheers
sid

Re: CAT 2008 for Working Professionals - 08-04-2008, 01:19 PM

Hi Puys,

After what appears to be another frustrating season with 6 calls and no converts yet..(IIMs still awaited)..i am looking forward to the next season already.
I am from Pune and have a work ex of 30 months till date.
Having answered CAT on 2 previous occasions, I certainly feel that it is much easier and advantageous to study in groups.Anybody from pune interested in forming study circle/group?

Regards,
KatKraze
