First of all i did not mention about lateral placements . And i am very sorry for judging ur analogy skills

. I was just trying to help to solve ur query with whatever knowledge i have.
I dont think they would have rule that 40% of the class should be freshers and rest ex-people or vice versa.
U also know , one out of every 3 people from engineering and 1 out of every 4 from IT industry take cat and some even get 99. + percentiles and they all get calls . the experienced guy may get a call for even 98.5+ score also .
i know so many who socred 99.8 and did not convert even a single call and some did not have the guts to open there mouth in the GD.
So i think GD and PI play a major role in getting a seat.
In the interview form the basically the question would about u , if u are experienced guy then u would be asked about ur work and why MBA . if the interviewer is convinced u are through , for freshers they would ask u about the some subjects which u have studied and would concentrate on ur communication skills , attitude and will u be able to handle the pressure of MBA and succeed.
So in a mixture of ex and freshers , they would just pic the best . if all the ex people deserved the seat then u may find the freshers at all and vice versa.
Sorry for the unsolicited gyaan.
