there are so many ways u can get motivated but none of them seem to be working for me yet . but try it out
1) try to hate ur job to the core, whenever u are working think that what the hell i am doing , i deserve even more . to get that u got to join iims and for that u got to clear cat and for that u got to sit and study
2) read some interesting posts in the thread " all i want to speak about is cat" you get to know how people have struggled and how much they have sacrificed and what they got ultimately.
3) just take the paper cutting of the highesdt salary that was offered in IIMS this year 1.4crores sorry how can i leave the .04 crores . it's most of our current salary :crazyeye: . 1.44crores . see everyone may not get it , but picture abhi bhi baki hai mere dost, kuch bhi ho saktha hai.
4) Watch some brilliant motivational movies - Rocky series , cindrella man, etc ....
5)be with people who are serious about CAT and work with them , compete with them in a positive way.
6)come to pagalguy and keep browsing, solve the propblwems which they put up in the threads and follow with the fellow puys comments , u would learn a lot , atleast u would know what u are lacking and go home and read.
7) make a girlfriend who is also preparing for CAt , try to impress her with ur gyan , but becareful , this is a very risky investment , if she is not serious about and if u get fida on her, it may not only spoil ur cat but also ur future . here i have no bad intention. i was just trying ot say that , LOVE is very powerful, and it can make wonders if ur intentions are good and positive.
Ultimately it should come from with in , not even the IIMA director can motivate u, the desire to get into the best B-school ,to be with the best brain around should drive u to the b-school.
More the desire , less chances of u not getting a b-seat.
Work is GOD, I am an Atheist
Imagine the wall to be CAT

Absolutely agree with ideacrash! Instead of trying to find an answer to 'why MBA' after clearing CAT, find the answer NOW. Think about why you want an MBA. Tell yourself that you don't want to remain in a rut for life... want to move ahead, broaden your learning, increase your salary, drive a Porsche Carrera, whatever. If your dream goal is to own a Rolls Royce, put up a picture of it in your room. Instead of the Royce, you could have posters of a house on Broadway, an airplance, or whatever it is that you fancy.
Keep yourself pepped up, by driving yourself hard, but not to the point of burning out. Watch an inspirational movie every 7-10 days. Some movies that inspired me a lot are Miracle, Glory Road, Remember the Titans, and Goal (the English one).
If you get bored of schedules, revamp your schedule every 15-20 days. Give yourself rewards and punishment. If you finish a topic ahead of schedule. reward yourself with a treat! If you're lagging behind, give yourself a mild punishment.
Ultimately, it's all about a disciplined and focused approach. Reduce phone conversation frequency, time spent on the net, outings with friends, etc. Not to say that become a hermit in a Himalayan cave, but just prioritize.
Rock on!

When you are a working professional its a bit different I guess as examplified in above thread replies. This will be my first CAT attempt. And I have seen past CAT papers from friends. WHat can I say from all this is that it all comes to your attitude towards CAT and the way you approach things.
Anyway I just wanna ask here from all, how many of you will be taking coaching materials help ? Do you think its more useful for a working professional to go through books and his experience to guide him rather coaching stuff and classess....????:sarcasm:
Yours Competitor Friend,
Aksr...

hi aksr,
what i think is that it depends totally on the individual's comfort levels.
as u are a working professional and attempting for the first time, it wud be advisable that u go for some coaching materials or weekend classes (depending on your preferences)...as it'll somewhat help u maintain a momentum for ur goal...
rest is up 2 u to decide...:-)
