So, planning to quit in next 2-3 months and start prep for CAT08.

Any other thoughts?
hi Deepak,
i am also working with a major software MNC, although i took CAT for the first time...i scored a mere 92 %ile after 2-3 months of regular prep...
now as all the results have come in finally...i was also in the same dilemma as you are in at present...but everyone suggested me not to leave the company just for prep purposes...what my seniors have suggested me is to take CAT once more and if the result isn't positive, go for GMAT if you are such an MBA freak.

that very senior of mine is himself pursuing his MBA from US after 4 years of work ex in my company itself.

so i would suggest you not to be so desperate for it...its not the only thing left in the world...and might be possible the pressure you're feeling right now will hamper your performance in coming CAT.

so bindas ho kar CAT do... as if you don't pay a damn to the world...

also i agree completely with tzsrivastava that VA requires actual prep...not QA and DI...they can be easily prepared in 2-3 months

hi guys ,

hope u all are doing well. I desperately need this thread , finally got it ,
please make me count.

While every one is here to inspire others this is really a great platform to keep ur fire burning, I really appreciate u guys. but some time i think that its easy to give advise but difficult to adopt. i am also planning for this damn cat 08 very frst time.

have 2 yr Banking IT exp in a nationalized bank, i dont know how much it will count, but about one thing i m sure that these days every second guy has IT exp so exp in IT is not a star power these days . m i right ?

one more thing i felt that some time it can be worse to show exp if u dont have enough guts to match that exp too.

I got interview with ICICI bank, obviously with some Management experts , i didnt get that bcoz of my natural answers , i told wt exactly I am .

Is it gud to be natural in interviews or try to cheat them to show ur interest passionately? bcoz one who can tell wrong things in right manner is
always get selected , i also got selection .

wt u think puys?

In my opinion, in an interview, it is important to be your natureal self. However, this has to be done in a way that makes your personality pleasing. If you come out as a rebel, things might not go too smoothly. Still, one must not try to 'cheat' the panel coz they're intelligent folks, who'd have seen thousands of candidates. So, I guess it is important to prepare for a few common questions, and structure your responses before you walk in to the interview room.

i completely agree with Sumit on this issue.
most of the times the interviewers are an experienced lot and can catch the wrong one very easily...especially when it is the case for any B-school interview.
so it becomes quite necessary to give them a true picture of oneself...otherwise they may reject one's candidature on the basis of the difference they find in their assessment and the picture presented by the candidate...
although i also got two job offers from campus on the basis of the same effort as shaky_143 has elaborated... still i wont advocate to follow those practices...

regarding the IT experience as mentioned by shaky_143, i completely agree with him that it doesn't matter that much in today's scenario...as every third person is one or the other way related to IT...

just had a look at this thread and the attached doc file...
the foremost thing this doc file suggests is the drastic shift in the CAT pattern towards a reasoning based one.
