Friend,

Below is as per my knowledge.

On paper it is counted i.e.
If they are asking to fill it in some OMR sheet or some other kind of a application format. I mean that a computer system can't differentiate 7 months of experience on qualitative basis.

However I am afarid in interviews BPO experience is not taken in consideration

hey Ajay, i would have been more than happy if i cud ans u r query. But i think you will find u r answer if u post u r query in some threads where the Seniors in the b-skool are thr to answer queries related to GD/PI ,admission process etc. I know that those are not the appropraite threads for these queries, but still u will find the best ppl thr to give u the correct answer. As they will for sure have some of thr batchmate or seniors from Bpo sector as well.
I can name few of the threads which are active now and hot are as follows :

http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/other-...tml#post979416 (SCMHRD - 2008 GD / PI Experiences)
http://www.pagalguy.com/forum/other-...-gd-pi-27.html (XLRI 2008-2010 - GD/PI Queries & Discussion)

just browse thru the forums, see which are the threads active and having seniors answering queries. shoot your query thr. u will definitely get u r query aswered.

As of now i dont think that BPO ex will be a problem. Thy shd be counted as far as u can proof u r experience with valid papers. dont be worried too much about work ex. as u have already made up u r mind to appear for CAT08, so come what may give u r best shoot.
hope that u will find the answer to u r query and in a positive way

Re: CAT 2008 for Working Professionals - 04-02-2008, 07:39 PM

Hi Puys,

I am a S/W professional (7 months exp) as most of you are, and pissed off by the similar kind of people as all of you are. It'll be my very first attempt at CAT but i am no stranger to the ways and techniques to bell the feline. I've been into the thick of things, since one of my roomies and friend, who prepared while in campus, reached WIMWI.
I've joined the TIME weekend batch in bangalore, despite those "well placed people" (IIM waalahs) maintaining that coaching classes help a zilch. After all coaching classes do help to keep a tab on you, and at least you adhere to their plan if you are too lazy to prepare one for yourself. (which is true in my case. :P). And you wud make a mockery of yourself if you attempt CAT without attending the 'mocks'.( which comes bundled with the full classroom pkg).

I was searching for this year's official thread for the working junta, and i was overjoyed to find such enthusiasm (well communicated by the number of posts on this thread this early) . I sincerely hope that we'll continue to dream, plan, execute in the same spirit throughout the year, and make the dream called IIM a reality. Burnout woes eh? perseverance and attitude is the answer. Kudos to you guys for starting and maintaining this thread!!

Count me in a as a regular here!!

A CAT score is like a figure of a perfect model. The 'VA'ist (waist) is always less, and the other two nearly equal.. 36-24-36

Re: CAT 2008 for Working Professionals - 04-02-2008, 08:53 PM

hello all

i was just wondering tht in CAT form v just need to write the no of months experience we haev...no where they ask for which company we r working for and at wat position..

so at the time of giving calls tht means a guy who has 1 year of BPO is equal to a guy who has 1 year of consulting (and this guy may b a manager over there)

am i rite in saying this??

and if yes thn i think IIM's need to go SP Jain way and shud also have a coloumn of company u worked for and at wat level...

Cheers

Kartik

Perfectly right but thats only for giving out calls.
Later on at the PI stage they incorporate a multiplicative factor for quality of work experience atleast in IIMB. That factor can even be 0.
