My suggestion is that, apart from our daily chit chat ,we can start smthn like "Words a day". Lets post some words; junta test thr vocabs, once the answer comes up with proper usage, start with another. ne one can contribute to this repository and it gets growing.

here goes the first few words :
minutiae
misconstrue
promenade
promiscuous
Hi Iota.. u have taken a great initiative... but theres a separate thread for english.. the official eng thread for CAT08... it wud be great if u cud post there.. newas.. keep up the good work....

Cheers,

hey bubai,
thanks a lot for praising the initiative. u r absolutely true. thr are threads which deals with similar kinds of activities. with deference to u r opinion ,my concept was to share atleast 3-4 words a day while we continue with our normal discussions. Many ppl including me seldom visits any thread other than the "CAT for Working Junta 2008", my personal opinion disclaimer with Capital 'D'. So just thought to brush up and enlarge our vocab repository just by sharing.

hi chandu,
ur's is the case with almost all of us except for those brilliant, lucky 1700 ppl who will be getting into the Heaven called IIM this yr.

year 2007 was a disaster, but lets make it sure that 2008 brings some new ray of hope.
to start with you can start the same way as most of us have started with. read as much as u can. go thru the editorials of all the leading newspaper, subscribe a magazine. you can subscribe freely to Business world thru net. they will ask u to create a user id and u r done.
also can go thru the basics of quant, practice some puzzles from Summers etc.

Pal,
Any kind of a experience is counted if u can prove it.
IT & Software experience is definitly counted.
My dear 90% junta here is from IT background

However prblm comes when u reach GD/PI stage
In my scmhrd GD/PI group 7/9 guys had IT experience from same kind of companies
(tcs , wipro , satyam , infy, moi - techm)
so here u have to distinguish u r self from the rest of the IT guys,

Hope this helps, ATB
