That would not be a wise decision kapil.this query has been posted so many time and there are so many threads on this.

Leaving a job would not go well with the ppl in the college. U have to give really strong reasons for that. and if u would say that u left it for preps then it there is a 99% chance they wud say gudbye.
another reason is CAt is not like board exams where u sit and study for 10 hrs a day and then in the end u make it. anything can happen on that day and if God forbid something goes bad and u end with a lower percentile, then u would be really frustrated...reaally really frustrated

I would suggest not to take ur job seriously. while preparing for CAt, ur job shud be ur hobby and CAT shud be the place where u put in ur entire concentration. If u start giving ur 100% to ur job and expect to come back and study for CAt , i dont think thts gonna happen

Although I dont disagree with your suggestions....but then I must say that whatever you have suggested is a very easy thing to say, but equally difficult to do.

Well, I have seen people actually leaving their jobs and preparing for MBA exams (and they had their own set of reasons for doing so.....and thats what they said during the interviews.......moreover, you are not expected to be a 100% truthful these days......or else this truthfullness starts working against you, almost always!)

But ya, leaving your job and then not getting through MBA would be a great pain.....and it would almost shake you like hell. So even if you are planning to leave the job for preparing, then just keep some doors open. and if its possible, you take some medical leave from office or some other leave for next few months (at Loss of Pay) and if you dont get through the MBAs then silently walk back into office after few months..........

So think about it.........and then take the right step.

hi buddy,
many people have problem like you...
its only you who have to cope up with the same...
as Sarisj and daemon have suggested you must start squeezing time from your job to study for the cat...
i agree it will seem odd to you for first 1-2 weeks...but later on it will become a habit as you'd be acclimatised to the regimen...
as far as learning is concerned...the lack of learning in your job must become a motivating factor for you to appear in CAT...
hope it helps...

I can understand..i guess most of us are frustrated with our jobs..but then this is the phase that comes in everyone's career at some point or the other..

if u think u r wasting ur time then try to utilise ur time in office for preparations..this is wot i'm doin nowadays: bring my prep material to office, go to a quiet corner and study for abt 30- 45 mins ..
or u can always take leave and study...but believe me it won't work unless u r dedicated and disciplined..i took a day off last week and ended up most of the time chatting with my online friends and sleeping

so all i hav to say is hang on, try to reduce ur office hrs...and still if itz not working then think abt leave or quitting

Anyone can give up, it's the easiest thing in the world to do. But to hold it together when everyone else would understand if you fell apart, that's true strength

Re: CAT 2008 for Working Professionals - 15-07-2008, 05:41 PM

see i know this is a very diplomatic answer.. cbut all i can say is it depends. I have heard tht in IIt hostels they sit and study hard for the last 3 months and get thru IIMS..well..thts their league..and u dont need to be a quant champ to sail thru CAT :boat:.. but according to me, at this point of time 1.5 to 2 hours is really less..because now u have to make ur basics allright.. if thts all u can really put into it, then work really hard on weekends to compensate..and i repeat wht i said in my last post..more work does not really mean a better CAT score..there is a limit to which ur score can rise by hard work..beyond tht its all smart work..its an aptitude test dude

take a mock cat and analyse ur scores. :2gunfire:U will really get an idea of wht it is..if possible take the last year CAT paper. atb

bhai,
you have told it yourself...in bold...
if you start now...it will be sufficient...only regularity and hard work is required...
best of luck bhai...

hi!

Ask any person working in IT, and the chances are very very high that you will get to hear the same statement from him/her. And this acts as the basic reason why everyone starts thinking about MBA degree.
So forget about the fact that you are not liking/learning at your office, everyone is facing the same situation. Else there would not have been such a huge rush towards the MBA colleges.
So accept that even if you dont derive any pleasure out of your current work you have to be a part of the same unless you are able to crack some MBA college.
