Even the procedure i dont think is quite accurate.
Many people in the list are rejected because of low graduation scores.
I am really interested to know how cut offs are decided for a univ/insti.
Also in a univ, people frm diff branches can have different marks.

E.g. In pune univ, topper of comp sci. had 78% and that of IT had 85% 2 yrs back.

I have seen a guy from Pune univ in the list, who has 70% and still not cleared the cutoff!!
The univ, where officially distinction is given at 66%, how the score of 70% could not clear cutoff?
Very strage!

I have given specific example because i dont have idea about other univ.

But I really feel its a great initiative and transperancy is really needed in the procedure.
I hope somebody is listening!

The whole admission process takes around 4 to 5 hours, sometimes even 6. For accommodation in the hostel, send a mail to the admissions08@spjimr.org TEN days before your interview day citing reasons for finding accommodation inside campus. There are 60 seats for finance and the calls given out are around 700.No preference to previous shortlists---if you do well,you will get through.

well such calls there are a very small percent of the overall shortlist.........
and if you score a 99.9% you are sure to get a call from IIM B,L (provided balanced sectionals)

plss take this post in rite spirit buddy but u shud atleast get ur stats rite wen discussing such critical issues.........just visit IIM call etter threads(6 of them) and u will see for urself that there are countless number of people with not only 99.9+ cat scores and super balanced sectionals but exceptional academics too not getting a call from IIM-B...if u stil ca't find them ..pm me and i will send u few such profiles..........


also the big objection i have is that we are not talking about %age's of people unfairly treated here..are we??,,,,if this is the case then plss excuse this post of mine,it is not meant for u............i always thot that we are advocating an ideology of transparency and fairness in selection procedures.....if one cllg has 10 dissatisfied people and another one has 100..that doesn't mean we go aftr the latter hammer and tongs and leave the oder one beacuse only a small %age of people have been 'so called"unfairly treated..........................moreover most people(including experienced teachers) agree that IIM_B criteria is just beyond their understanding

is any system perfect at all....if u for example be given this opportunity to admit x number of candidates from 1000x people can u say that u have done a perfect job......neways...spj is a new institute started by an individual and has come so far in such short a time ...my point is we shud think twice bfore giving opinions on what the cllg has done wrong and not just jump in wit evrythin we have got......it has reached where it is today following sme ideologies and ways and without advice from people lik us......

we have to undrstand that GD/PI is a subjective process..it is not lik a written exam....dere will always be questions ,difference of opinions, dissatisfaction......but dey shud be raised only when they are genuine and shud not result from deep dissapointment of not getting thru(if this is d case)

Also, just think for a moment on purely technical grounds leaving aside all the emotions.......we went and filled SPJ forms, cllg didn't come to us to request or force us to fill it's forms,it never promised or mentioned that it will disclose it's details of procedure and it has been carrying on admissions lik this for many years and earned a name...IT IS NOT ACCOUNTABLE TO EXPLAIN REASONS FOR EACH AND EVERY REJECTION IT DOES AT WATEVER LEVEL...............surely administrators there who have built the cllg from scratch know better than us on how dey want to improve their institution

gosh....I didn't mean to advocate SPJ but my post is against what i feel is a wrong motive now

Reason stated for me to get rejected: ir-relevant work-experience. I am working in telecom domain for 20 months and had applied for FINANCE.

I am angry n hurt but what should i do and can do. Does this mean that I dont have any right to do an MBA in Finance. What sense does tht make. Look at the no. in maths through out educational career and everything.

If at all they have this thing then they can clearly state that so and so people with so and so work-ex should not apply to so and so branch.

I clearly remeber SPJain dean or whoever's interview saying tht work-ex( even if one has) does not matter for marketing and finance ( but it does a bit for IT n Operations). Even in this case was my academics, CAT score and profile was so bad tht it got filtered and wasnt the reach of 600 people who got call for finance.( May be)

Reason's, questions, arguments will be many. End of the day we cant define rules. All I know is I won't apply to SP Jain next yr. Coz i dont want to do MBA in I.T and SP Jain will only accept or select me if I apply for I.T.

And system cannot change. It has never and will never. People who take decisions have reached there coz of certain reasons and gud to do so. We are actually not eligible to tell them ( even if we think and know we are right).

I just pray that with time, lot of other colleges rise up the ladder. So that lot of gud students don't just have to depend on IIM's Xl, MDI's SPJain's etc.

And may eb students who come out of other college's should make a point tht when they reach certain level in there life and career they too don't become partial ( on the basis of brand name ) to these colleges and look at the over all quality and just not college name.

#Note- I still don't mind fighting along with Nidhi. But sitting far out in bangalore, working for a company like Wipro, deosnt and will not give me the privelege of coming to SP Jain gate and give dharna.

On a lighter note. May be i can develop a script and a virus and bombard mails. Please take this as a poor joke. Just tht heart cries when's its in pain. For with each yr goes away 365 days and the strength to fight keeps on decreasing and u start getting more white hair.

Have already mentioned that there is NO way an insti can decide who wil be eligible or who wil not be eligible even before receiving ALL the applications and comparing them...it doesnt mattr wat size the bed spreads r when relativity rules the roost !!!

Wherever it is possible fr the insti to say wat wd be the lower cutoff (as in the case of ur CAT/XAT scores with 85%), it HAS come out and sed that...pls visit the website if u havent already done that...the basic criteria is given there and in my belief...that is as much as any othr insti wud give u.

The very reason y the insti and I obliged to get back to u is to tell u guys that there indeed is a logic behind the selection process...contrary to wat many on this thread wer led to believe...and tat we r willin to let u knw y u lost out...

Now this stuff cn go on and on...lik sm1 sed...the next thing in the name of transparency wud b to know how and wat each univ is graded etc etc...theres a limit to wat any insti can divulge in terms of its selection process...and not being 100% transparent (as wud obviously be the expectation of each applicant) DOES NOT MEAN that the process is unfair....and the bottomline is that SPJ doesnt need to prove to any1 the sanctity of its selection process...the proof is out thr fr every1 to c in terms of the success of ppl who pass outa here year aftr year...so it HAS been pickin the right ppl...and so it becomes simple then...any1 who trusts the process...is welcome to apply !!!
